BETBY moves to bridge gap between chess and betting

By | December 19, 2025

BETBY has once again checkmated the industry by launching 24/7 live chess content on its platform.

The offer is supported by a live model fully built in-house, which makes it hasslefree when it comes to the supply and integration of the content – all part of BETBY’s efforts to make chess a scalable betting vertical.

By introducing a constant stream of chess content, BETBY aims to address something that it sees as a fundamental challenge – an absence of continuous events for a sport that holds huge potential as it is enjoyed by many across the world.

During this endeavour, the company designed and developed its innovative chess engine, which unifies chess tournaments under the same hardware settings, long time controls, and a seasonal format.

This is accompanied by a round-robin and playoff structure, where each game is played to either a decisive result or a theoretical draw – providing sportsbooks with an uninterrupted flow of chess content.

Another challenge for BETBY that no other gambling provider has tackled yet was the development of accurate live models for these chess engines, with the main obstacle being the lack of such solutions on the market.

Thanks to the expertise of BETBY’s product, trading and AI teams, this has now been addressed with a modelling framework that can support a live market offer, including winner markets, handicaps and total rounds, among other in-play options.

The product launches just in time for the FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Championship 2025, which will allow fans to stay close to their favourite sport even outside active match hours thanks to the 24/7 markets.

Kirill Nekrasov, Head of Sportsbook Product at BETBY, said: “Introducing continuous live chess is a turning point for both our team and the industry. For the first time, operators can offer a stable stream of premium chess content supported by a sophisticated live model, even in a format as demanding as engine-vs-engine competition.

“This is the foundation for chess becoming a mainstream betting vertical, and we’re only just getting started. We’re already working both on expanding the current coverage and adding new tournaments because we believe this innovation will strengthen operators’ portfolios and position chess as an important engagement driver.”

BETBY will showcase its activation at ICE Barcelona with the help of chess legend and brand ambassador Magnus Carlsen, together with world number two and five-time US Champion Hikaru Nakamura and popular chess content creator Levy Rozman.
