Better Collective confirms new Chair as firm prepares for predictions

Digital sports media group Better Collective has chosen a new Chair of its Board, Thomas Plenborg, coming amid a revamping of its international strategy.

The firm confirmed that Plenborg will succeed Jens Bager as Chair of its board, due to the latter opting to not to seek re-election after holding the role for over 10 years.

Better Collective acknowledged the ‘pivotal role’ the new Chair has already played in its corporate transformation, with the firm having expanded its reach from Europe to both North and South America.

New horizons

Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Copenhagen, Better Collective has expanded to become one of the biggest digital sports media firms with a focus on the betting sector and operates one of the industry’s biggest affiliate networks.

The firm has secured a provincial foothold in major regional iGaming markets, such as in Latin America via its acquisition of Playmaker Capital in 2024. It is also active in other elements of the iGaming ecosystem, such as safer gambling via its subsidiary Mindway AI.

“We are pleased to welcome Thomas Plenborg as our new Chair,” said Jesper Søgaard, Co-founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Better Collective.

“Having worked with him on the Board over the past year, we have already benefited from his deep financial and strategic insights.

“His experience with globally-leading companies will be invaluable as we continue our work towards becoming the leading digital sports media group.”

Plenborg takes on the leadership role on Better Collective’s board as it prepares to get involved in yet another sector – the booming, yet also controversial, predictions markets scene.

The firm plans to leverage its US-facing brands like Action Network and VegasInsider. The prospect of securing another revenue stream comes after the firm published its Q4 and FY25 operating results in February this year, revealing a slight slump in yearly revenue.

Plenborg remarked: “I would like to express my appreciation to Jens for his leadership and long standing commitment to Better Collective. He has played a central role in shaping the governance, strategic direction, and growth journey over the past decade.

“I now look forward to working closely with the management team and my fellow Board members to continue developing Better Collective for the benefit of all our stakeholders, including our customers, partners, employees and shareholders.”
