Dutch online gambling trade body VNLOK has welcomed iGaming provider ComeOn as its latest member.
Founded back in 2010, ComeOn has grown to become an international player on the gambling market, building up presence in the Netherlands since 2022 under a licence from the local regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA).
The firm offers customers a wide variety of entertainment options, ranging from live casino, slot games, online sports betting, and more. VNLOK was adamant that the addition of ComeOn to its ranks will help towards establishing a sustainable and secure online gambling marketplace.
Björn Fuchs, Chairman of VNLOK, added: “We warmly welcome ComeOn within our association. It is valuable that more and more license holders are uniting within VNLOK to work together on a well-functioning, safe and responsible online gambling market in the Netherlands.”
With its accession as a VNLOK member, ComeOn will help with the structuring of a more responsible Dutch gambling market, which now has to comply with strict advertising regulations as part of the Remote Gaming Act (KOA) reforms that were launched a few years back and are still being implemented.
The latest series of guidelines published by the KSA have set out clear rules for providers of remote gambling such as ComeOn, targeting a more enhanced player protection environment.
According to the regulator, operators did not fully understand the extent of the ban of untargeted advertising included in the reforms, which obliged gambling providers to only market via the internet and on-demand media services but under strict conditions.
Now, the regulator has clarified that under no circumstances should the advertising channels that operators use reach vulnerable groups, and if circumstances do open the door for the slightest of uncertainties, operators must therefore refrain from advertising through the relevant channel.
The gambling authority further added that the new set of guidelines have been consulted with relevant stakeholders through an extensive Q&A and insights from the regulator’s own supervisory efforts since the ban on untargeted advertising was introduced.
“With this, the KSA aims to contribute to careful and consistent compliance with the ban on untargeted advertising within the online gambling market,” the regulator’s statement concluded.
