Genius Sports has enhanced its market status in Latin American by securing the position of exclusive official data and streaming partner of the Argentine Football Association (AFA).
The agreement will see the data and technology provider collect and distribute data across 3,330 games per season and 13 competitions at all levels of Argentine football, with the aim of internationally connecting fans, brands and sports betting operators.
To achieve this objective, Genius will capture and distribute AFA data and live video broadcasts for regulated betting operators, providing ‘premium content’ to sportsbooks to assist with customer acquisition, retention and engagement.
The partnership also includes a sporting integrity element, as Genius will use its Bet Monitoring System to provide ‘24/7 visibility and protection’ by comparing global betting patterns with predictive algorithms to identify and flag any potentially suspicious activity.
Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports, said: “The Argentine Football Association is one of the most respected and prestigious organisations in world soccer.
“Being selected by them for such a vital partnership that combines our expertise across live data, streaming, production and media is a huge honour and further validation of Genius Sports’ outstanding credentials and strategy.”
Furthermore, Genius has also secured data distribution rights for media across all AFA competitions, leveraging its personalised advertising, content and fan-messaging solutions for brands, publishers and advertisers.
In addition to the AFA, the NYSE-registered firm became an official partner of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in May, and also serves as an official integrity partner of the English Premier League, Dimayor Colombia and the German Football Association (DFB).
The AFA will leverage Genius’ services to help ‘grow Argentinian football’s global reach’ as well as boost its commercial strategy to increase fan engagement and visibility ‘at all levels’ of the country’s national footballing infrastructure.
To achieve this, the partners will install GeniusLive+ cameras at over 100 venues to power the sporting body’s OTT platform with ‘broadcast-quality streams’.
Genius will cooperate with Pixellot and Argentinian company La Corte in the production of all GeniusLive+ events, enabling the AFA to live stream over 2,000 fixtures covering eight competitions per season.
“As a leading global soccer federation, one of AFA’s key objectives is to generate new revenue streams by unlocking the value of its digital assets through new strategic partnerships,” remarked Claudio Tapia, President of the AFA.
“As part of this process, we are extending the reach of our brand across new markets and growing our corporate partnerships. Today, we are very happy to announce this strategic alliance with Genius Sports, the leading sports technology company that trusts in our association and vision and will help equip us for a digital future.
“We are convinced that this partnership will be critical to expanding the visibility of Argentine soccer across the world and also opens up a range of new commercial possibilities.”
