FDJ United has officially bid au revoir to the Ontario lottery market, with Kambi taking point as a replacement.
The French gambling giant is faced with significant tax hikes back home, especially around online gambling, in a market that has become notorious for some of the highest tax rates across European member states.
As part of its cost control emergency measures, FDJ announced last year that it has contacted Kambi to take over its sportsbook partnership with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).
Now all conditions of the novation agreement have been completed, and OLG has officially integrated Kambi’s Turnkey Sportsbook across both its PROLINE and PROLINE+ retail and digital channels – with all profits going back into Ontario as usual.
It is also worth noting that Ontario is the largest lottery market in Canada when it comes to sales, having been valued at $4.47bn at the end of 2025. OLG is poised to continue this upward momentum.
Duncan Hannay, OLG President and CEO, said: “OLG strives to provide a market leading PROLINE sports betting experience for our players.
“We look forward to working alongside our new partner, Kambi, who offers a proven track record of product excellence and reliability, as we deliver on our commitment to give back to the people and communities of Ontario. This is an exciting step forward for both organisations.”
Kambi was formerly a subsidiary asset of Kindred Group until 2014 when Kindred spun the B2B company off.
Since then, both companies have maintained a close relationship, evidenced by the choice FDJ has made – with the French gambling giant acquiring Kindred in 2025 and subsequently rebranding as FDJ United.
On the opening up of the new Ontario horizon, Werner Becher, CEO of Kambi Group, added: “We are delighted to have officially completed this transition and to begin this next chapter of our partnership with OLG.
“Having met the necessary conditions of the novation agreement, Kambi is excited to become the official sportsbook provider and to have launched with one of the world’s most respected lottery operators.
“We value our partnership with OLG and look forward to leveraging our proven technology to help them drive sustainable growth and provide a safe and entertaining betting product for their customers in Ontario.”
