The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) has agreed that its World Grand Prix will come under the title sponsorship of BoyleSports for another three years.
The Irish bookmaker continues its target of increasing brand visibility across the tournament, following on from its original collaboration in 2019 – a year that saw Michael Van Gerwin win his fifth title.
“BoyleSports have been a valued sponsor of the PDC for many years across a number of tournaments, but the World Grand Prix is a perfect fit for them and we’re delighted that they will continue as title sponsors until at least 2024,” commented PDC Chief Executive, Matt Porter.
“The BoyleSports World Grand Prix is synonymous with Dublin and we’re all looking forward to taking the event back there in 2022 for one of the highlights of the PDC calendar.”
This year’s Grand Prix was held in October and saw Jonny Clayton beat defending Champion, and ex-professional rugby player, Gerwyn Price, 5-1 in the first all-Welsh major final in PDC history.
Aiming for a ‘strong commitment’ to the sport, Mark Kemp, Chief Executive of BoyleSports, explained: “It is one of the biggest and best events that’s on the PDC calendar.
“The BoyleSports World Grand Prix will be back in October 2022 and we are already looking forward to seeing the world’s best players pitted against each other in the unique format.”
The 2022 tournament plans to be held, again, at the Citywest Convention Centre in Dublin, and this week, the PDC has announced an increase in prize money for such upcoming events – a reported total of £15 million for next year’s circuit.
Moreso, BoyleSports continues to expand its range of sports sponsorships, and in recent months, Premier League’s Newcastle United linked up with the enterprise which then provided a range of activations, competitions and experiences for the team.
Shortly following, Wolverhampton Wanderers extended a similar arrangement with the group which included fan engagement and advertising caveats, as BoyleSports benefitted from further exposure through the Molineux stadium’s LED screens during matches.
Next Wednesday is the return of the PDC World Championship at Alexandra Place in London, with Adrian Lewis (‘Jackpot’) up against Canada’s Matt Campbell (‘Ginga Ninja’) in the first session, while Ricky Evans plays India’s Nitin Kumar.
