ReferOn, an iGaming affiliate management platform, has made another addition to its core product, embracing tokenisation – a technology that has taken other industries like finance by storm.
The company has announced the launch of Personal Access Tokens (PAT), designed to help client companies authenticate with ReferOn’s API. The system works by generating a dedicated token inside a ReferOn profile and connects immediately to an API.
ReferOn believes that this will make authentication with its APi faster, simpler and safer by reducing friction and dependency on multi-step flows. The firm believes that the fact affiliates are handling more data, partners and workflows than ever before has made tokenisation-based systems like PATs more crucial.
“Every feature we ship follows the same core principle: remove friction and give teams more control,” said Vlad Bondarenko, Head of Product.
“PATs do exactly that by replacing the old authentication flow with a single, predictable token, making automation easier and helping affiliate programs scale without extra operational load.”
Tokenisation – the process of converting real-world data into digital tokens for use within a system – have been a major talking point and focus for development in the technology sector for some time.
The tech has been making a particular impact in finance, with payments processors like Mastercard as well as major commercial banks, among other players, making greater use of it.
The rollout of token technology in gaming isn’t a huge surprise, especially given how open the sector has been to other tech, like AI. ReferOn has been particularly enthusiastic in its adoption of AI, launching a new open standard last month to help AI assistants connect to its platform.
Solving problems around handling data has been one of ReferOn’s main objectives, as explained by the company’s General Manager, Alex Bukin, during the SBC Summit earlier this year.
“Strategy and real impact come before hype,” he said. “MCP isn’t about chasing a wave, it’s about creating a foundation that keeps affiliate managers and operators ahead of the curve.
“By focusing on building the groundwork to support structured data and open standards, we’re making sure AI has real use cases, not just cosmetic add-ons. Our goal is to set the benchmark for innovation and lead the affiliate management ecosystem by shaping its future.”
