Tipsport has submitted a bold tender to the Czech Football League Association (LFA) seeking to replace main market rival Fortuna Entertainment as the title sponsor of Czech Liga 1 and Liga 2
Czech media reports that Tipsport has submitted a CTK 150m (€6m) per season offer to become title sponsor of Czech football’s top two divisions.
Tipsport’s offer is reported to significantly improve Fortuna’s current six-year deal that began in season 2018/2019 and will expire in June 2024.
Further to targeting Fortuna as title sponsor, Tipsport’s deal aims to replace Central European OTT sports broadcaster Pragosport as the lead media rights and streaming partner of the Czech football leagues.
Targeting Pragosport’s contract, Tipsport disclosed to local media, that it would distribute CTK 30m (€1.2m) per season, amongst Czech Liga teams to improve their media rights and commercial capacities – in which the betting group intends to make no revenues from the agreement.
Submitting its offer, Tipsport has demanded that the LFA must ensure a competitive tender for the Czech Liga’s sponsorship rights – in which Fortuna cannot renegotiate its existing contract without ‘transparent due-diligence’.
Fortuna will serve out its final year as title sponsor of the Czech Liga, before it submits a counter-proposal to rival Tipsport.
Should Tipsport become the title sponsor of the Czech Liga, the betting group will secure blanket coverage across all major Czech sports – as title sponsor of Extraliga Ice Hockey League and the Czech National Basketball League.
