Buzz Bingo has announced that its three-year charity partnership with the Stroke Association has raised £300,000, exceeding its original fundraising target of £200,000.
The partnership, which launched in 2022, focused on supporting people affected by stroke, particularly those experiencing social isolation during recovery. The initiative aligned with bingo’s long-standing role as a social activity and community space.
Since the start of the partnership, Buzz Bingo colleagues and customers across the UK have supported the cause through charity bingo games, local fundraising events and in-club initiatives.
The £300,000 total was generated through multiple fundraising streams, including £170,000 raised through official charity bingo games, £50,868 collected via in-club donation tins, £15,000 from charity dabber sales, £20,735 from local fundraising events and £75,000 contributed through Buzz Bingo sponsorship.
Highlights include:
- £170,000 raised through official charity games.
- £50,868 from collection tins in clubs.
- £15,000 from dabber sales.
- £20,735 from local events.
- £75,000 from Buzz Bingo sponsorship.
Three-Year Partnership Concludes Exceeding Target
Beyond fundraising, Buzz Bingo clubs also hosted local stroke support groups, offering accessible venues where people affected by stroke could meet, socialise and connect with their communities. The partnership concluded with a charity bingo game to mark World Stroke Day 2025, which pushed the total raised beyond £300,000.
Buzz Bingo and the Stroke Association
The funds will support the Stroke Association’s research and frontline services. Buzz Bingo said £57,000 of the total raised funded a member of the charity’s Stroke Support Team, helping provide direct support to stroke survivors.
Earlier this year, Bingo Daily reported that Buzz Bingo had hit the 200k target well ahead of schedule.
Dominic Mansour, chief executive of Buzz Bingo, one of the UK’s top bingo operators, said the partnership reflected the wider community role played by retail bingo venues.
“It’s been humbling to play a part in raising £300,000 for the Stroke Association. This achievement isn’t just about the money – every sponsored walk or run, every tea party and charity bingo game has built connections in our community. Bingo itself can support motor and cognitive skills, so supporting stroke survivors in their recovery and giving them a place to socialise felt like a natural fit.
“One of my favourite moments was seeing our exclusively designed charity dabbers in action when a local stroke support group played bingo – a fun project that helped raise thousands while sparking conversations about stroke.”
Juliet Bouverie OBE, chief executive of the Stroke Association, said the funds would have a significant impact on survivors across the UK.
“Over 85,000 people survive a stroke every year in the UK, but surviving a stroke is just the start of a long and gruelling recovery journey. Anyone – mums, dads, grandparents, young people, even children – can have a stroke, and its impact is traumatic.
“We are incredibly grateful to Buzz Bingo and its customers for their outstanding support during the three-year partnership. The fantastic amount raised is testament to their creativity and commitment. These funds will help us to provide tailored support to tens of thousands of stroke survivors each year, fund vital scientific research, and campaign to secure the best care for everyone affected by stroke.”
