Buzz Bingo Worthing Helping the Police Over Drug Use Reports

By | September 13, 2024

Buzz Bingo has told Bingo Daily that it is “helping the police” after reports of antisocial behaviour and even drug use outside its Worthing bingo venue.

Sussex Police have received reports of drug use and “inappropriate behaviour” outside the popular bingo club on Rowlands Road, in Worthing.

A Sussex Police spokesman told the local press:

“We attended a report of drug use and inappropriate behaviour at the address on September 5.

“Following a search of the area, we were unable to locate any suspects in relation to the incident and have made contact with the business.

“Officers will continue to monitor the situation.”

A spokesperson from Buzz Bingo told Bingo Daily:

“We’re aware of recent incidents near our venue in Worthing and are helping the police with their inquiries.

There has been plenty of discussion over Buzz Bingo Worthing’s future. Cayuga Developments is understood to have submitted plans to knock down the historic building, which has been used as a bingo hall since the 1970s, and replace it with 47 flats, six houses, and commercial space.

Open for Business

Buzz Bingo has a tenancy agreement until 2039, although it has been reported that discussions between the two companies about moving forward are underway.

The spokesperson for Buzz Bingo confirmed that the behaviour outside the club had not affected business and that it is business as usual. The spokesperson said:

We’re open for business and have made improvements to our club to ensure it remains a welcoming and safe space for everyone to get together and play bingo in our community.”

Buzz Bingo Worthing recently reopened this year following a refurbishment.
