On Saturday, 21st June, Mecca Bingo’s Beeston club in Nottinghamshire was the centre of excitement as it hosted the grand final of Mecca’s third national cross-channel slots tournament. Sponsored by Blueprint Gaming, the event brought together finalists from across Britain, with both online bingo and in-club players vying for a share of a hefty £25,000 prize pot.
The Queens Road venue, a very popular bingo club, which benefited from a major refurbishment in July 2024, welcomed a packed crowd for its first time hosting the prestigious final. The event was the culmination of weeks of competitive qualifying rounds held via Meccabingo.com and at Mecca’s land-based venues nationwide.
From hundreds of hopefuls, 16 finalists — eight online and eight in-club players — earned their place in the head-to-head finale. The evening kicked off in style, with players and guests treated to a welcome drinks reception before the real action began.
Over a series of tense elimination rounds, players battled through knockout matches, aiming for the top cash prize of £10,000. In the end, a lucky winner, who preferred to stay anonymous, triumphed. Known to be a regular at Mecca’s Burton-on-Trent club as well as an online player, she walked away with a cheque for £10,000 and a celebratory bottle of bubbly.
Mecca’s Head of Digital, Robert Lee, reflected on the event’s success:
“The goal of these tournaments is always to bring our online and venue communities together, and this final did exactly that. The atmosphere in Beeston was electric, and we’re thrilled the top prize went to a player who embodies that cross-channel spirit.”
There were plenty of other winners too, with quarter-finalists earning £1,000, semi-finalists scooping £2,000, and the runner-up netting a generous £5,000.
All finalists were treated to overnight accommodation, premium goodie bags, and additional bingo sessions both during the evening and the following day.
Blueprint Gaming’s Senior Account Manager, Jack Lawson, praised the event:
“It’s always a pleasure to work with Mecca Bingo on these live tournaments. They’re a fantastic platform to showcase our latest slots and to meet players in person. The Beeston team did a stellar job hosting – it was a fantastic night all round.”
Looking ahead, Mecca Bingo has already confirmed that another cross-channel tournament will return in November 2025, giving fans another chance to spin their way to glory.
