Mecca Bingo Southend celebrated its biggest ever win this month after one lucky dabber called ‘House’ playing the National Bingo Game, winning themselves a life-changing £50,000.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a regular at the popular bingo club on the Essex coast. Their win is the biggest ever seen at the Mecca Bingo Southend venue.
Sammi Gerrard, assistant manager at Mecca Bingo Southend, said of the big win:
“I had given our regular caller the night off, so I stepped in.
“We always dream of making our customers jackpot winners, so I was absolutely amazed when I called the fifteenth number and the full house claim came in.
“Initially people thought it must be a mistake, but as soon as it was verified and the total prize announced, everyone started clapping and customers started queuing up to congratulate the winner.
“I have worked for Mecca for 17 years. Telling someone that they’ve hit the jackpot is the most fabulous feeling.
“On this night the player’s reaction was pure disbelief, he looked so shocked.”
Alex Cook, general manager of Mecca Southend, added:
“It’s incredible, this is the biggest win Mecca Southend has ever had.
“But luck must be in the air this new year as our winner is the sixth Mecca Bingo player to hit the National Game £50,000 jackpot in the space of just 17 days.”
