The iGaming industry has experienced great success around the world recently. This also applies to Canada.
Namely, Ontario announced that this state will launch its iGaming market on April 4th of this year, thanks to an agreement the state made with the government and Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
Registration Required
During the spring, everything is blooming, including the iGaming industry in Ontario, where operators will finally be able to enter this market come April. For all this to be possible, operators who want to leave their footprint in the Canadian state must first register with AGCO and get the green light from AGCO’s branch iGaming Ontario.
However, the process for the finger up will not be easy. Before being approved, operators will have to go through strict checks on ‘’integrity, fairness, player protection, and social responsibility.”
Representatives of globally known companies also commented on this news.
From the Rep
Gaming’s President and CEO, Jay Snowden expressed his opinion: “Today’s news is very exciting, and I would like to recognize and congratulate the Government of Ontario and the AGCO and iGaming Ontario for their dedication to creating a modern open and regulated sports betting and iGaming market.”
Penn National will be present in this market thanks to its brand, theScore. This company has shifted its business from the sports media space to the sports betting and iGaming division.
Paul Burns, President, and CEO of the Canadian Gaming Association, said it took more than a decade for the iGaming market in Canada to launch. This became possible thanks to the success of sports betting in the United States.
He stated: ”This is another major milestone and achievement for Ontario’s gaming industry after sports betting. The move to establish a regulated iGaming market in this province will ensure that the people of Ontario have access to safe and legal gambling options online while encouraging investment and job creation in Ontario.”
We believe that this is just the beginning of the development of this market in Canada and that there will be many more opportunities for operators in the future.
