BetMGM and PointsBet, well-known brands in the iGaming industry, are ready to launch their content in Ontario, once the market opens, thanks to new online gambling licenses. This approval is issued by iGaming Ontario which is a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
The start of the market is scheduled for April 4 this year, and the licenses of these operators will be valid for about 2 years, until April 3, 2024.
BetMGM will provide its customers in this Canadian province with the opportunity to check out its content through BetMGM.ca, while the PointsBet casino will be available on the PointsBet.ca website.
Thanks to these gambling licenses, the brands will further expand their global reach through the Great White North, which is one of the key markets in North America.
Getting licenses before the market is launched is a very important step for brands’ growth plans as they will be able to make their portfolio available to players in Ontario immediately once the market is open – which is April 4, 2022.
Preparing for the Market Opening
So far, a large number of operators have secured the necessary licenses to operate in this market, which are also issued by the competent authorities – iGaming Ontario.
In addition to the mentioned companies, brands including very popular betting houses such as Bet365, FanDuel, Unibet, as well as the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation also got a thumbs up.
Furthermore, licenses were also provided for Rush Street Interactive, LeoVegas, 888, Rivalry, theScoreBet, Coolbear and Fitzdares.
However, it should be noted that Annexio Limited will operate as Lottogo while NSUS Limited will operate under the WSOP brand in the largest province in Canada.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario gave its comment regarding the approval, and said in the statement last week the following:
”We’re continuing to work closely with everyone who has applied to join the market. Not every operator will be ready to launch their services on day one. Some are more ready than others. This means Ontario’s new iGaming market will steadily expand in the weeks and months following April 4. ”
