Colorado Casino Revenue Climbs to $92.1 Million in January

By | March 6, 2026

Colorado’s land-based casinos generated $92.1 million in January, marking a 13.9% increase compared to the same month last year. The Colorado Department of Revenue, which reports figures by region rather than individual casinos, confirmed that all three casino markets experienced year-over-year growth.

Statewide, slot machine revenue led the gains, rising 14.6% to $76.2 million, while table games contributed $15.9 million, an increase of 10.2%. These figures highlight the continuing strength of Colorado’s gaming sector early in 2026.

Black Hawk Drives Majority Of Revenue

The largest casino market in the state, Black Hawk, reported $71.7 million in total revenue, up 14.8% from January 2025. Slot revenue in the region increased 15.9% to $56.8 million, and table games brought in $14.9 million, a 10.8% rise. Black Hawk’s strong performance continues to make it the central contributor to Colorado’s overall gaming market and remains a critical hub for both players and operators.

Cripple Creek saw its revenue climb 11.7% to $14.2 million. Slots accounted for $13.4 million of that total, a 12% increase, while table games rose 5.8% to $818,248. The results indicate steady growth across smaller markets, reinforcing the statewide upward trend.

Central City posted $6.1 million in revenue, up 8.6% from the previous year. Slot revenue grew 9.5% to slightly over $6 million, but table games fell 23.7% to $111,743, highlighting variation in performance between gaming types across different regions and underscoring the challenges faced by smaller casinos.

Rebounding From January 2025

These gains follow a slowdown in January 2025, when Colorado casinos recorded a combined $80.8 million in adjusted gross proceeds, down 5.1% from $85.1 million in January 2024. Slot machines generated $66.4 million, reflecting a 6% decline, and table games contributed $14.3 million, slightly down 0.7% from December 2024. Gaming taxes also fell 3.2% year-over-year to $14.2 million, highlighting the improved performance seen this year.

Colorado’s liberal gambling framework

Colorado maintains one of the most permissive gambling regimes in the United States. In addition to fully operational land-based casinos, the state offers regulated charitable gambling, live and simulcast racing wagering, and lottery operations. The only areas not yet legalized are sportsbooks and internet-based gambling, though both are expected to be introduced in the near future, likely starting with sports betting.

The January performance demonstrates that Colorado’s casino market is experiencing renewed momentum, with growth across most gaming categories signaling strong consumer demand. The results suggest that operators are benefiting from both established gaming offerings and the continued appeal of Colorado’s permissive regulatory environment.
