New Jersey has again rewritten its own iGaming record books, collecting a staggering $248.4 million in online casino revenue in August. The figure, reported by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, marks the highest monthly total ever recorded since the state legalized internet gambling.
This milestone nudged past the previous record of $247.3 million set in July and represented a 25.2% increase year-over-year. It’s also the fourth time this year that New Jersey has set a new high in iGaming monthly revenue.
Across all verticals, total gambling revenue for the month reached $642.2 million, a 15.7% jump compared to August 2024 and a 5.9% rise from July’s total.
FanDuel Leads iGaming Surge
FanDuel Casino, in partnership with Golden Nugget, maintained its top market position with an industry-leading $57.1 million in iGaming revenue for August—a 38.2% increase from last year. This performance helped Golden Nugget post a record $76 million in licensee revenue.
DraftKings and Resorts World followed with $47.1 million, a 9% year-over-year rise, while BetMGM and Borgata combined for $53.1 million, with BetMGM alone bringing in $32.6 million—a personal best for the operator and a 46.2% increase from the previous year.
Caesars Palace and Tropicana rounded out the top five, with $17.1 million in combined revenue, up 21.7%. Meanwhile, newer entrants like Fanatics Casino, which revamped its platform in May, reported strong gains, notching $10 million for the month.
Sports Betting Revenue Climbs Over 30%
The sports betting sector also delivered strong results. August’s sports wagering revenue reached $81.9 million, marking a 30.6% rise from the same month in 2024.
Online sportsbooks accounted for the bulk of this, generating $79.3 million, while retail books contributed $2.6 million. The total sports betting handle for August was $814.3 million, with $778.8 million bet online and $35.5 million in person.
FanDuel and Meadowlands topped the online market with $31.6 million in revenue. DraftKings and Resorts World brought in $27.9 million—an 80.1% spike from last year—while BetMGM and Borgata saw a 73.2% rise to $7.7 million.
Atlantic City Casinos Post Gains
Land-based casino revenue also saw an uplift, climbing 6.1% to $311.9 million. Slot machines generated $234.3 million, up 5.7%, and table games pulled in $77.6 million, increasing 7.1%.
Leading the way was the Borgata, which recorded its best month since July 2019 with $80.2 million. Its slot revenue alone hit a monthly high of $60.1 million, with a 9.7% hold on $620.9 million in drop.
Other top performers included Hard Rock with $58.3 million and Ocean Casino, which hit a new personal best at $51.2 million.
August Brings Tax Windfall
The state collected $86.1 million in gambling taxes in August, including $49.1 million from iGaming, reflecting the impact of the 19.75% tax rate on online operators. Total gambling revenue through the first eight months of 2025 has reached $4.57 billion, with $1.88 billion from iGaming, $1.98 billion from land-based casinos, and $708.7 million from sports betting.
