Michigan’s online gambling sector achieved unprecedented revenue in October, with combined gross receipts from internet gaming (iGaming) and internet sports betting totaling $352.3 million. This figure represents a 16.4% increase from September and surpasses the previous record of $312.5 million set in August 2025. Year-over-year growth is even more notable, with revenue up 38.9% compared to October 2024.
iGaming led the charge, generating $278.5 million in gross receipts—the highest monthly total reported to date. This broke the previous high of $263.3 million in August 2025. Online sports betting also posted strong results, grossing $73.8 million, a sharp increase from September’s $43.6 million, and marking one of the highest monthly totals since Michigan’s legal sports betting market launched in August 2020.
Adjusted Gross Receipts and Player Activity
Accounting for promotional expenses, combined adjusted gross receipts (AGR) reached $310.9 million in October, with $261.7 million from iGaming and $49.2 million from internet sports betting. This equates to a 7.5% increase in iGaming AGR and a $36 million rise in sports betting AGR from the previous month. Year-over-year, iGaming AGR grew 31.8%, while sports betting AGR climbed an impressive $39.4 million.
The total sports betting handle in October reached $605.9 million, up 15.6% from September’s $524.3 million. Michigan’s hold rate based on gross receipts was 12.18%, while the hold for adjusted revenue stood at 8.12%.
Leading Operators and Market Share
FanDuel and MotorCity retained their leadership in Michigan’s online casino sector, generating $76 million in gross revenue and $71.4 million in adjusted revenue combined. MGM and BetMGM followed with $68.8 million and $64.7 million in gross and adjusted revenue, respectively, while DraftKings partnered with the Bay Mills Indian Community to post $44.7 million and $42.1 million.
In online sports betting, FanDuel and MotorCity again led the market, taking $29.9 million in gross receipts and $17.5 million in adjusted revenue from a $230.5 million handle, resulting in a 12.97% hold. DraftKings was second with $21.4 million gross and $16.8 million adjusted revenue from $180.5 million in wagers (11.86% hold), while BetMGM completed the top three with $10.7 million gross and $7.3 million adjusted revenue from $70.5 million in bets (15.18% hold).
Taxes, Payments, and Detroit Casinos
Michigan’s online gambling activities generated $58 million in state taxes, including $54.6 million from iGaming and $3.4 million from sports betting. Detroit’s three commercial casinos contributed $15 million in local taxes, while tribal operators reported $6.5 million in payments to their governing bodies.
Detroit’s land-based casinos also showed strong results in October, posting $107.4 million in revenue—up 4.4% from October 2024 and 8.6% higher than September. Revenue from slots and table games rose 2.2% to $105.9 million, though adjusted sports betting revenue fell 33.3% to $1.6 million. MGM Grand Detroit retained its dominant 49% market share, followed by MotorCity Casino at 29% and Hollywood Casino at Greektown at 22%.
