The figures, published by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, show a significant year-over-year surge of 40.8% compared to the $214.1 million reported in June 2024.

While the overall total marked a slight decline from the prior month, digital casinos once again proved to be the state’s primary revenue engine. Online casino play accounted for $240.6 million of June’s revenue, reflecting a 31.3% annual increase. However, adjusted gross revenue (AGR) for iGaming dipped 4.3% month-on-month, settling at $226 million.

FanDuel Continues to Lead Michigan’s Market

FanDuel, in partnership with MotorCity Casino, maintained a leading position in both online casino and sports betting segments. The duo generated $62.3 million in gross iGaming revenue, with adjusted receipts of $58.6 million. That said, this partnership was narrowly edged out of the top iGaming spot in June by another operator reporting $60.3 million in gross and $56.7 million in adjusted revenue.

DraftKings and its tribal partner, the Bay Mills Indian Community, remained consistently strong performers, ranking third with $38.7 million in gross receipts and $36.4 million in AGR.

In total, commercial iGaming tax contributions reached $47.1 million in June, with the City of Detroit receiving $11.8 million. Michigan’s tribal operators paid $5.8 million to their respective governing entities.

Online Sports Betting Grows Year-on-Year, Lags Behind May

Online sports betting saw a solid 44.3% increase from the same period last year, generating $44.6 million in gross revenue. However, adjusted figures for June declined 14.4% from May, ending at $30.5 million.

Players wagered $302.7 million on sports throughout the month, a 9.4% increase over June 2024, though it reflected a 21.6% drop compared to May’s $386.1 million handle. The gross hold for operators came in at 14.73%, while the adjusted hold was 10.08%.

FanDuel and MotorCity led the sports betting vertical with $18.5 million in gross revenue from a $103.4 million handle. DraftKings and Bay Mills followed with $13.1 million from $95 million (13.79% hold), while BetMGM and MGM Grand Detroit took third with $5.4 million from $40.9 million in wagers (13.2% hold).

Land-Based Casino Activity Declines Slightly

Turning to Detroit’s brick-and-mortar casinos, combined revenue reached $101 million in June, a 4.2% decline from the previous year. Of that, $100.4 million came from table games and slots, while sports betting contributed $665,435.

MGM Grand Detroit claimed the largest market share at 48%, followed by MotorCity with 31%, and Hollywood Casino at 21%. The state collected $8.1 million in gaming taxes, and Detroit received $11.9 million in local taxes and service fees. Retail sports betting taxes added $25,153 to the state’s coffers and $30,743 to the city.
