Missouri Records Sharp Growth in First Week of Sports Betting

By | December 11, 2025

Missouri’s new online sports betting market saw substantial activity during its first seven days, with GeoComply reporting more than 520,000 active accounts and nearly 18.5 million geolocation checks. Eight platforms launched at midnight on Dec. 1, producing what GeoComply called an “exceptionally strong” debut. The firm tracked 2.6 million geolocation checks in the first 24 hours, a pace similar to recent launches in larger states. GeoComply CEO Kip Levin said, “Missouri has waited a long time for legal sports betting, and the early response has been extraordinary.”

Opening Week Activity and Wagering Trends

The Kansas City Chiefs were the top draw across operators. According to GeoComply, more than 10,000 active accounts were detected at Arrowhead Stadium and nearby areas during Sunday Night Football against the Houston Texans, generating over 43,000 location pings. A pin-drop visualization showed heightened geolocation activity around the venue throughout the early portion of the game.

DraftKings highlighted a notable payout from a $1 nine-leg NBA parlay that returned $1,929.70. The company said the Chiefs led all betting interest, with the Ohio State Buckeyes following. “We were thrilled to launch in Missouri and are pleased with the early results,” said Johnny Avello, DraftKings Director of Sports Operations. Prop betting focused heavily on Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice.

Caesars Sportsbook said the Chiefs’ Sunday Night Football appearance also produced significant engagement. Its most popular prop wager was on Jahmyr Gibbs to score a touchdown in Thursday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys, which he achieved multiple times. Caesars’ largest first-week win came from a bettor who placed a live money-line wager on Michigan State men’s basketball over undefeated Iowa, winning $26,529.35 from a $34,488.15 stake.

Circa saw similar interest in the Chiefs-Texans game, with prop bets concentrating on Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. A spokesperson said, “First week went well. Positive growth every day and a great College Football Saturday and NFL Sunday.”

Positioning Among Other State Launches

Missouri’s metrics drew comparisons with states that legalized sports betting earlier. Kentucky posted 2 million geolocation checks in its first 24 hours, while North Carolina reached 5.3 million in its first 48 hours. GeoComply also pointed to early results from Massachusetts, Ohio and New York to illustrate how Missouri’s performance aligned with larger markets.

Operators reported minimal technical or licensing hurdles. bet365 executive Trip Stoddard said early activity confirmed that residents had long anticipated the market’s opening. “From early numbers, I think it was very clear that the entire state had some pent-up demand,” he said. He credited the St. Louis Cardinals partnership with helping the company understand local preferences.

With more than half a million accounts created in the first week, Missouri established a strong base for continued sports betting activity. Engagement centered around NFL games involving the Chiefs, alongside interest in college football, the NBA, the NHL and college basketball.
