Ontario-online-gambling-revenue-reaches-CA307-million-in-JuneOntario’s regulated online gambling market brought in CA$307 million (US$226 million) in revenue during June 2025, marking a 27.9% increase compared to June of last year. However, the monthly total fell short of May’s record-setting CA$338 million, reflecting a 9.2% decrease month-over-month. Figures released by iGaming Ontario highlight the continued strength of the online casino sector, which contributed the bulk of June’s revenue. At CA$243 million, online casino revenue rose 41% from the same month in 2024, maintaining its dominance within the provincial iGaming market.

Casino Strength Offsets Sports Betting Decline

While casino games drove much of the market’s growth, other sectors showed mixed performance. Online sports betting brought in CA$58 million in June, down 7.9% year-on-year. In contrast, revenue from internet poker climbed 12.5% to reach CA$5.4 million, reflecting modest yet positive momentum in that niche category. Player engagement remained strong, with one million active accounts recorded for the month—20.9% higher than the same period last year. However, this figure also represented a 5.2% decline from May 2025, mirroring the overall dip in revenue.

Player Spending Tops CA$7 Billion

Total wagering across all verticals reached CA$7.26 billion in June, an increase of 21.4% over the previous year’s total. Despite this annual growth, the figure still lagged behind the CA$8.07 billion spent by players in May, signaling a typical seasonal slowdown following spring’s peak activity. Online casino betting alone accounted for CA$6.36 billion of June’s wagers, rising 25.2% year-on-year. Sports betting spend remained flat at CA$768 million, while internet poker betting also held steady at CA$132 million.

Revenue Per Player Sees Modest Uptick

According to iGaming Ontario, the average revenue generated per active player rose to CA$303 for the month—5.9% more than the previous June. However, this too reflected a dip from May, when the per-player average was higher at CA$316. Though June’s numbers didn’t match the highs of the preceding month, the annual comparisons underscore the ongoing expansion of Ontario’s iGaming industry. Casino activity remains the driving force, with poker showing potential for growth, while sports betting appears to have plateaued for the time being. As the province continues to monitor market trends, the steady year-on-year increases in both revenue and player activity suggest Ontario’s digital gambling landscape is stabilizing into a mature, high-performing segment of the broader Canadian gaming sector.
