Pennsylvania’s gambling market delivered another milestone month in October, with fresh records across both iGaming and sports wagering contributing to one of the state’s strongest performances to date. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) said overall commercial gaming revenue surged to $596.97 million, up 20.2% from the same month last year and comfortably ahead of September’s total.
Online Casinos Lead the State’s Revenue Growth
Online casino revenue was the standout driver of October’s performance. Operators collectively generated $251.1 million, setting a new state record and surpassing the previous benchmark of $238.2 million recorded in March 2025. The PGCB likewise highlighted the achievement, noting that “a record amount for revenue generated through iGaming… reached $251,097,586 in October, eclipsing the previous high set in March 2025 of $238,220,161.”
The online casino segment expanded 32.8% year-on-year, with internet slots producing $190.8 million, a 35.5% increase, and online table games up 25.7% to $57.7 million. Online poker contributed an additional $2.5 million, reflecting 13.6% annual growth.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course again dominated the iGaming landscape, supported by its online partners and posting $98.7 million, up 42.2% from last year. Valley Forge Casino Resort remained firmly in second place, taking in $71.4 million, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia held third at $38.2 million.
Pennsylvania’s strong online performance mirrored similar record-setting months in New Jersey and Michigan, with all three states reporting high demand for digital casino products.
Record Betting Handle Lifts Sports Wagering Results
The sports betting sector rebounded decisively from a sluggish September. Wagering revenue soared 121.7% compared with last year, reaching $60.7 million, split between $56.2 million from online sportsbooks and $4.5 million from retail locations.
The surge was powered by an all-time-high handle of $968.5 million, topping the previous record of $935.5 million set in November 2024. Online betting accounted for $926.1 million of player spending, while retail contributed $42.4 million, pushing the statewide hold to 6.27%.
DraftKings, partnered with Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, claimed the top spot in operator rankings by delivering $21.8 million in revenue from a $300.1 million handle, yielding a 7.26% hold. FanDuel and Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with $18.2 million from $357.6 million in bets, while BetMGM and Hollywood Casino Morgantown secured third with $4 million from a $59.6 million handle.
Brick-and-Mortar Casinos Hold Their Ground
Although online gambling continues to expand at a rapid pace, land-based casinos remain a core component of Pennsylvania’s gaming ecosystem. Retail slots produced $203.5 million, up 1.4%, while table games increased 3% to $76.1 million. Video gaming terminal revenue slipped slightly to $3.5 million, and fantasy contests dipped 1.1% to $2.1 million.
Across all forms of wagering, combined tax revenue for state and local governments amounted to $252.3 million, with online casinos supplying the largest share at $112.7 million, followed by land-based slots at $102.8 million, sports wagering at $21.8 million, and retail table games at $12.8 million.
