Rhode Island Casino Revenue Remains Largely Unchanged in July

By | September 3, 2025

Rhode Island’s two casinos recorded relatively stable revenue in July 2025, showing only a modest 0.9% dip compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Rhode Island Lottery. Combined earnings from Bally’s Tiverton and Bally’s Twin River casinos totaled $53.2 million, down slightly from $53.7 million in July 2024.

Tiverton Gains, Twin River Falls

Bally’s Tiverton Casino saw a modest uptick in revenue, posting $13.8 million for the month — a 2% year-over-year increase from $12.8 million. The boost was largely fueled by slot machines, which generated $11.1 million, up 2.5% from $10.8 million last year. However, table games at Tiverton posted a minor decline, falling 0.4% from $2 million to $1.98 million.

Meanwhile, Bally’s Twin River Casino reported a year-over-year revenue drop of 1.8%, decreasing from $40.8 million in July 2024 to $40.1 million in July 2025. Despite this overall dip, slot revenue at Twin River actually rose 2%, growing from $31.6 million to $32.3 million. The downturn came from the casino’s table games, which experienced a significant 15% decline in earnings — falling from $9.2 million to $7.8 million.

Statewide Slot Revenue Sees Modest Rise

Looking at the broader state-level picture, combined slot machine revenue from both casinos improved slightly year-over-year. In July 2025, slot earnings reached $43.4 million, up 2.2% from $42.5 million the previous year. The modest growth in slot play helped offset more substantial losses in table games.

However, table game revenue statewide saw a sharp drop. Compared to July 2024’s $11.2 million, table games across both properties brought in just $9.8 million — a 12.6% decrease.

Slots Offset Weakness in Table Games

Although the overall revenue decline was minimal, the contrasting performance between slot machines and table games reveals evolving player preferences. With slots showing consistent gains across both properties, they remain the primary driver of revenue. Table games, on the other hand, showed weakening performance at both casinos, particularly at the larger Twin River property.

These trends reflect national patterns where slot machines often outperform table games in terms of both player volume and revenue stability. If the trend continues, operators may place increased focus on slot offerings while reevaluating their table game strategies.

Rhode Island may be the smallest U.S. state, but it offers a wide range of gambling options, including two commercial land-based casinos and a state lottery. Players must be at least 18 to participate. In 2023, online casinos were legalized for Bally’s and Twin River, though full launches remain pending.

Online sports betting is legal via Sports Bet Rhode Island, the state-run platform. While broader online casino gaming isn’t available, residents can access offshore sites with little risk of penalties. Charitable gaming is regulated by state police, with low fees and clear reporting rules. Bingo prizes are capped at $7,500 per event. The state lottery offers draw and instant games, returning over 61% in prizes, with draw games more popular than instant tickets.
