In a move to advance responsible online gaming across the United States, the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) has announced a new collaboration with BetBlocker to promote the use of its free gambling-blocking software. The partnership will make BetBlocker’s services more accessible to individuals looking to limit or restrict their gambling activities, including across both regulated and unregulated platforms.
BetBlocker, a free and anonymous tool, enables users to voluntarily restrict access to more than 118,400 gambling websites and 1,500 gambling apps across all their devices. The partnership is positioned as a significant step toward removing common barriers that prevent people from getting the help they need.
Supporting Safer Gambling Through Practical Tools
ROGA, an independent body representing 90% of the legal U.S. sports betting industry by handle, will now spotlight BetBlocker on its website and promote the software through its various communication channels. It also plans to work with its eight member operators to find ways to integrate BetBlocker access directly into their customer offerings.
“ROGA was established to raise the standard for responsible online gaming through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to evidence-based practices,” said Dr. Jennifer Shatley, Executive Director of ROGA. “Making resources like BetBlocker more visible and accessible is one way we put that mission into action. We’re equipping individuals with practical tools that support their decisions and well-being.”
The BetBlocker app is designed for ease and speed, allowing users to activate restrictions in under two minutes. It also offers support in more languages than any comparable tool, further widening its reach and usability. As a no-cost, confidential service, BetBlocker avoids the financial and social obstacles that can deter people from seeking assistance.
Empowering Players With Personalized Features
One of BetBlocker’s upcoming developments—a scheduling tool—will allow users to plan and pre-set restrictions for times they anticipate needing them most. This aligns with ROGA’s focus on empowering individuals with customizable and user-friendly solutions.
Duncan Garvie, Founder of BetBlocker, praised the collaboration, stating, “We’re delighted to partner with the Responsible Online Gaming Association to expand access to BetBlocker across the United States. This collaboration will help tens of thousands of people take meaningful steps to manage their relationship with gambling, regardless of where or how they play. By working with ROGA and its member operators, we’re removing barriers to support and making it easier for people to access the tools they need—freely, anonymously, and on their own terms.”
Building Toward a Comprehensive Self-Exclusion System
The BetBlocker partnership complements ROGA’s broader efforts to bolster protections for players seeking to take a break from gambling. ROGA is currently developing a data clearinghouse that will enable unified self-exclusion across all of its member operators. Once implemented, this system will be reinforced by BetBlocker’s capabilities, ensuring users have an extra layer of support—particularly when accessing unregulated platforms that fall outside operator-specific exclusions.
By joining forces, ROGA and BetBlocker are taking a coordinated and player-centric approach to responsible gambling, offering tangible tools that prioritize personal agency and accessibility.
