International Game Technology (IGT) has reported that its Wheel of Fortune and Megabucks™ slots delivered two major jackpots last month, giving players life-changing wins totaling more than $6 million.
Record-Breaking Wins Across the U.S.
The excitement kicked off on September 25 when a Wheel of Fortune Triple Stars™ player at Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts in Yonkers, New York, struck gold with a $2,995,532 jackpot. This milestone represents the largest jackpot ever awarded at Empire City Casino.
The following day, September 26, Twin Pine Casino & Hotel in Middletown, California, hosted another massive win when a Megabucks Mega Vault™ player claimed $3,194,568. This marks the second mega-sized Megabucks jackpot at Twin Pine; the casino previously celebrated an $8.4 million winner in December 2010.
Megabucks, known as the world’s first wide area progressive (WAP) jackpot system, has been creating millionaires since 1986. Meanwhile, Wheel of Fortune slots have produced over 1,200 jackpot winners and distributed more than $3.6 billion since their debut in 1996.
Wheel of Fortune Spins Into Illinois VLT Market
IGT has recently broadened the reach of its iconic Wheel of Fortune brand by introducing it into Illinois’ video lottery terminal (VLT) market through a partnership with Gold Rush Gaming, one of the state’s leading VLT operators. This collaboration marks the first time the franchise has entered Illinois’ VLT sector.
The new Wheel of Fortune VLT title is presented on IGT’s RISE55 portrait cabinet, featuring a 55-inch high-definition display, advanced lighting, and ergonomic design. To celebrate the rollout, IGT and Gold Rush Gaming hosted a series of player events across Illinois earlier this month.
