GambleAware has published a full list of the donations and pledges it received in the first quarter of the 2024/25 financial year. In the first quarter (Q1), which ran from April 2024 to June 2024, the charity received £294,722.99 in total from Research, Prevention and Treatment (RPT) contributions.
This level of funding is consistent with the last four financial years, where GambleAware has received a relatively small proportion of donations in Q1, with a greater proportion of donations received in Q4 (January to March).
This 2024/25 fiscal year is likely to be the final year in which operators will donate directly to Gambling Commission approved organisations before the introduction of a statutory levy. The charity is calling for continued funding to ensure the continuation of services including the NGSN and a safe and smooth transition to the new commissioning system.
Zoe Osmond, CEO of Gamble Aware, said: “This is anticipated to be the final year of the voluntary donation system, before moving on to a system with a statutory levy. As we transition to the new system it is essential that funding is maintained at the same level as previous years to ensure there is no disruption to prevention and treatment services for gambling harm.”
The figures published for Q1 2024/25 also show GambleAware received £40,000 in Regulatory Settlement funding. This comprises final transfers of monthly instalments to GambleAware agreed between the Gambling Commission and a single operator, in accordance with the Statement of Principles.
