Betting on Sports Europe to see deep analysis of marketing strategies

By | November 3, 2021

A number of in depth conversations are due to take place on the Marketing & Affiliation track at the Betting on Sports Europe conference and exhibition next week, with a wide range of experienced industry leaders set to take the stage.

The track is just one of six on the packed agenda due to take place at the Stamford Bridge stadium in West London between 9-11 November, where some of the European betting industry’s biggest names will share insights and predictions on a wide variety of trends and developments in the sector.

In the opening panel, moderated by Shaun Simmonds (Managing Director, Superstar Digital), the participants will discuss raising brand awareness and the difficulties of account conversion, with Ricardo Pinto (CMO, Darwin Gaming), Marcos Oliveira (Chief Commercial Officer, Clever Advertising Group) and Glenn Debattista (Head of Product, WIS Ltd) offering insights.

“Betting on Sports Europe has always been an incredibly important event on my calendar,” said Shaun Simmonds. “It is always a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded people and the standard of the panels and speakers simply cannot be beaten.”

In the following panel, Dan Levy (COO, Smarkets) will be joined by Jaap Kalma (Managing Director, Parma Calcio), Pablo Ortiz (Chief Business Officer, Baskonia – Alavés Group) and Quirino Mancini, (Partner, Tonucci & Partners).

This conversation will see the panelists share their views on one of the biggest public debates with regards to the contemporary European sports betting industry – sponsorship arrangements between operators and sports teams. The speakers will contribute opinions on the future of sponsorships and the industry’s political dynamics as regulators across the continent introduce new frameworks.

Television advertising will be the topic of conversation for the next panel, where Martin Lycka (SVP for American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling, Entain) and Ben Cove (Chief Marketing Officer, Pinnacle) will trade insights on the impact of TV restrictions on betting advertising and whether or not this will create a greater demand for affiliates. Adrian Sladdin (Director, Seventh Wave Training) will be in the moderator’s chair.

One of the most enduring trends in the betting and gaming space, and indeed across many other industries over the past two years, has been increasing digitisation, which has presented new and unique challenges and concerns for operators.

This will be the primary focus of the next session, where Stuart McMaster (Partner, Mishcon de Reya LLP) will moderate a discussion between Rahoul Kille (Director Advertising Sales Global Accounts, Sportradar) and David da Silva (CEO, EasyOdds) on effective profiling of customers and effective communication methods in a digitised environment.

The penultimate panel of the day will focus on free bet promotions and sign-up bonuses, one of the more controversial tools in bookmakers’ marketing itineraries. In recognition of regulatory scrutiny of these offerings, Gabriele Sarti (Co-Founder and Director, Gamecast Group), Lloyd Danzig (Managing Partner, Sharp Alpha Advisors), John Gordon (CEO, Incentive Games), Temur Mikeladze (Chairman, Crocobet) and Russell Yershon (Founder, ConnectingBrands) will offer opinions on how the products can be made more sustainable and what other methods are available.

Finally, drawing the day to a close is an in-depth analysis of the booming Mergers & Acquisitions and affiliates scene in today’s European betting landscape, which has been exacerbated by developments across the Atlantic in the US. Gary Gilles (Head of Betting, Acroud) and Matthew Smith (Director, Akur Capital) will converse on the topic, whilst Anton Kaszubowski (Managing Director, SBC Advisory Partners) chairs.

Five other tracks will feature at the Betting on Sports Europe conference – Innovation & Operations, the Payment Expert Forum, the Future of Sports Betting, Leadership, and Betting Around Europe.

A programme of evening networking events will be provided to all attendees, concluding with the closing party and Sports Betting Hall of Fame induction ceremony at London’s iconic Natural history Museum on 11 November.
