Coral has begun to trial a 360° Virtual Reality (VR) Horseracing Experience, developed by Entain Plc’s in-house technology studio.

The first of its kind VR experience has been created in partnership with JockeyCam, a technology that captures the best live footage of racing action, providing audiences with the experience of what it is like to be a jump jockey.

Entain’s immersive VR experience will be toured around the UK and will be showcased at a number of Coral-sponsored events throughout the year, with its next stop at the Newcastle Races on Good Friday.

2022 has seen Coral revise its brand engagement with UK racing audiences, which saw the heritage bookmaker launch the industry’s first 3D advert on the world-famous Piccadilly Lights as part of its refreshed “Your Horse” campaign.

Ahead of Saturday’s Grand National at Aintree, Coral debuted betting’s first artwork campaign paying homage to Red Rum as the public’s favourite National Winner – by commissioning a 50mx50m sand work of the champion stud on  Ainsdale Beach.

The innovative approach  of the campaigns have been central  to driving engagement with Ladbrokes and Coral, whose active customers across the Cheltenham week increased  by over 40% on pre-pandemic 2020 results , as revealed by this morning’s Entain  Q1 2022 trading update

Dominic Grounsell, Deputy Managing Director Digital at Entain, commented: “The growth and engagement in our UK sports brands show just how powerful the combination of our core customer offer and immersive experiences can be.

“We have a really exciting opportunity to do something different and, through our brands, are committed to reaching both new and existing customers in interesting, fresh and engaging ways.”
