EveryMatrix has secured approval to expand its operations in Alberta, which is set to become the next regulated betting market in Canada.
The Malta-based gaming tech firm has been expanding its profile across the various gaming markets of the Americas in recent years, having built up a solid foundation in its home continent of Europe.
Its North American profile consists of the US states of Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Jersey and West Virginia, as well as Ontario – which since 2022 has been Canada’s only licensed market.
Since regulating a multi-licensed betting sector, Ontario has emerged as one of the most valuable betting and gaming markets in North America with CA$9.6bn (£5.2bn) in cash wagers on licensed online sportsbooks and casinos reported in March.
From 1 July 2026, Alberta will join its fellow province to the east in launching a much anticipated multi-licence market, with various European operators and suppliers, like EveryMatrix, looking to set up shop there.
EveryMatrix’s launch in Alberta has been enabled via conditional licensing approval from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC).
Rani Axon, Market Manager, North America, EveryMatrix, said: “Entering Alberta marks an exciting step for the Group as we expand further into one of North America’s most attractive regulated markets.
“This approval shows the strength of our compliance team and our readiness to meet regulatory requirements in any market.”
EveryMatrix’s push into Alberta comes amid a wider expansion of its North American activity, exemplified by the London-founded, Malta-based company joining the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) earlier this year.
The firm has not lost sight of opportunities back in Europe, however, having signed deals this year with Merkur and Fitzbet, focusing on Denmark and the UK respectively. It has also signed deals with companies in South Africa and Angola.
