Flutter Entertainment has disclosed to Romanian media that it seeks to recruit 500 new software developers and IT engineers to join its Betfair Cluj Napoca tech hub.

The FTSE100 betting group has operated its Cluj tech hub since 2015, established by its Betfair business ahead of the subsidiary’s £4 billion merger with Paddy Power – a transformative deal that laid the foundations for Flutter Entertainment to become the global igaming sector’s biggest valued Plc.

The Betfair Cluj office has served as Flutter Group’s central hub for software programming, information security, IT infrastructure, technical assistance and data management in support of all Flutter brands and global territories.

Flutter calls upon its latest Cluj recruitment drive as the company seeks to integrate the newly acquired assets of Tombola, the UK’s largest online bingo room and Sisal, the operating steward of Italy’s SuperEnalotto lottery.

The group’s expansion will see Flutter increase its Betfair Cluj headcount from 1000-to-1500 IT/software focused employees by the end of 2023 trading.

Betfair Romania General Manager Ioana Popa will lead the recruitment drive – she remarked to local media: “It’s an ambitious plan and the steady growth rate we’ve had, including the last two years, gives us confidence that it’s realistic to achieve”.

Popa notified that Betfair Cluj had open roles across all levels of IT management and experience, in which the hub offered recruits the best skills development resources and career progression opportunities.

The hub’s new recruits will work within the group-wide focus areas of gaming, IT infrastructure, customer Tech, security, data provisions, marketing and shared services.

Popa concluded” “Betfair Cluj is a centre of excellence in software and shared services, the largest of the Flutter Entertainment group, with an impressive portfolio of our own products.

“We provide an attractive mix of projects, technologies and benefits that IT professionals are looking for for a long-term career, and we pride ourselves on an organizational culture that encourages diversity, creativity and flexibility. We expect to reach the threshold of 1,500 employees by the end of 2023.”
