Mansion calls time on sportsbook operations

Detailing a business plan to refocus on its casino operations, Mansion Group has announced the closure of its MansionBet sportsbook division.

MansionBet will cease operations as of 31 March 2022, with the group undertaking the decision after conducting a review of competitive market conditions and the regulatory environment within the British sports betting space.

Upon closure of its sports betting operations, Mansion will focus entirely on its Casino.com, MansionCasino and Slots Heaven casino brands in the UK whilst also looking to expand its international focus.

This will include placing a heavier emphasis on markets such as Spain, where MansionCasino is active, as well as North America – the group has applied for a licence for Casino.com in the Canadian province of Ontario, where a regulated market will soon be implemented and is expected to yield strong turnover.

Christian Block, CEO of Mansion, said: “After careful deliberation, we have decided to cease trading our MansionBet brand. The commercial decision was a difficult one, but it does provide opportunity to focus on our casino brands, where we have a long history of excelling.”

Originally founded in 2004, Mansion re-launched its sportsbook services in 2018 under the Mansionbet brand taking on high-profile sponsorships with Premier League football clubs Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth.

Of note, the brand has built up a presence across the sporting space via a range of partnerships, focusing on activations around horseracing, boxing and snooker.

MansionBet customers will be able to withdraw money from their accounts until the closing date, and will be able to withdraw any other funds via the company’s customer support team after this.

Additionally, any winning open bets will be paid out until Friday 28 April, although any open bets on sports events after this date will have their stakes refunded.

“To minimise impact on consumers, we have ensured our customers’ future winning continue to get paid out, and stakes will be returned regardless of outcome,” Block continued.

“Finally, I would like to thank all our colleagues and partners for building the sportsbook brand, and our loyal customers for their support throughout.”
