The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has launched a new service combining all applications for personal licences and Annex A approvals, entitled ‘Apply for a Personal Licence’.
Covering both personal function licences (PFL) and personnel management licences (PML) – as well as the aforementioned Annex A – Apply for a Personal Licence is supported by an ‘updated processing tool’ enabling faster processing of applications whilst also providing regular updates on progress.
The UKGC has stated the service ‘builds on the Commission’s continued commitment to improve the way it is regulated’ by making the personal licensing and Annex A approval process quicker and easier.
“I am very pleased that we can continue to automate our licensing services by making it easier to apply but also quicker to process,” said Helen Venn, Executive Director of the UKGC.
“This new service is a good example of delivering positive outcomes for users through collaboration between our Licensing and Digital teams.”
The service is open to anyone above the age of 18 interested in applying, with a possible fee, the amount of which will vary depending on the licence or submission prospective licensees are submitting.
Furthermore, in order to apply for a licence, applicants must provide an email address, all home addresses and dates covering the previous five years, a credit or debit card to pay the application fee and proof of identity.
Applicants who have lived outside of the UK any time in the last five years will also have to provide copies of a police report, credit report or letter of good standing from their personal bank.
Lastly, the UKGC may request either a Disclosure and Barring Service check or a Disclosure Scotland check depending on a prospective licensee’s residency over the last five years, which will be requested by the Commission upon completion of an application, if appropriate.
