Nottinghamshire Police have released images of a man they want to trace after more than £1,500 was allegedly stolen from a Buzz Bingo club in Nottingham.
The incident happened at the popular bingo venue on Gala Way, Bestwood, when a member of staff was transferring cash to a secure safe.
According to police, the employee had briefly turned away when an opportunist reached over the counter, grabbed bundles of cash and fled from the premises.
The theft happened at around 9.30pm on 19 June, with officers now appealing for the public’s help to identify the man pictured in newly released images.
Thief Allegedly Took Cash in Matter of Seconds
Police say the staff member had been moving more than £1,500 into a safe before the suspect allegedly struck.
The cash was reportedly taken in a matter of moments after the employee’s attention was diverted.
Investigators believe the man shown in the released photographs could hold vital information about the incident.
Police Appeal for Public’s Help
Sergeant Alex Piggott, of Nottinghamshire Police, said in a statement:
“This was sadly a prime example of the opportunistic nature of thieves, with this cash snatched the second the staff member turned around.
“We’re clearly keen to return this stolen cash to the business targeted and also catch the person responsible for taking it.
“On that note, we believe the person pictured has information that could really assist our investigation, so we’d ask them to make themselves known to us so we can ask them some questions.
“We’d also appeal to anyone who recognises this man to share these details with the police immediately.”
