Deluxe Bingo Hastings has pledged to continue supporting St Michael’s Hospice for another year, following its £10,000 raised through customer donations and fundraising events over the past 12 months.
The milestone comes just weeks after the popular bingo venue celebrated its first anniversary since reopening following a major refurbishment, marking another significant achievement in what has been a busy first year back in operation. Bingo Daily recently reported on Deluxe Bingo Hastings’ first-anniversary celebrations and its successful reopening after more than two years of closure, both of which highlighted the venue’s renewed focus on community engagement.
The Hastings bingo club confirmed that St Michael’s Hospice will remain its Charity of the Year, with a fresh programme of fundraising events planned over the coming 12 months.
Hospice visit highlights impact of fundraising
Senior members of the Deluxe Bingo team recently visited St Michael’s Hospice to see first-hand how the money raised is supporting patients and families across Hastings and Rother.
Chief Operating Officer Stephen Lawrence and General Manager Ileana Danescu toured the hospice, met with staff, and learned more about the charity’s services.
The £10,000 total was generated through a combination of in-club fundraising activities, special events, and customer donations over the last year.
Stephen Lawrence said:
“Visiting St Michael’s Hospice and meeting the team behind such vital work really brings home the impact of what our customers and staff have helped achieve.
“We are incredibly proud to have raised £10,000 over the past year, and seeing how that support translates into real care for people in our community makes it even more meaningful.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership and support the hospice into the year ahead.”
Customers recognised for their generosity
Ileana Danescu said the fundraising campaign had resonated with many regular customers, particularly those with personal connections to the hospice.
She said:
“This partnership has been incredibly important to us and to our customers, many of whom have personal connections to the hospice.
“Reaching the £10,000 milestone is a fantastic achievement, and it reflects the generosity and community spirit we see every day in our club.
“After visiting the hospice and hearing more about their work, we are even more motivated to continue fundraising and supporting them in the year ahead.”
Hospice thanks bingo community
Rebecca Futrall, Fundraising Manager at St Michael’s Hospice, thanked the venue and its customers for their continued support.
She said:
“St Michael’s Hospice is incredibly grateful and proud to have been chosen as Charity of the Year for the Deluxe Bingo and are so thrilled that they hit their fundraising target of £10,000 just as they approached their first anniversary.
“Thank you so much to all that have supported, it means so much. St Michael’s Hospice supports and enables the community of Hastings and Rother to live well with dying, death and loss and is heavily dependent on the generosity of local individuals, companies, groups and trusts, so the support from The Deluxe will make a wonderful difference.
“We very much look forward to continuing to work with you in this coming year.”
A successful first year continues
The fundraising milestone adds to what has been a successful first year since Deluxe Bingo returned to Hastings under the ownership of Godden Gaming Organisation. Since reopening, the club has celebrated its first anniversary, invested heavily in the historic venue, and once again established itself as one of the seaside town’s leading entertainment destinations.
With its charity partnership now extended, customers can expect to see further fundraising events taking place throughout the coming year, with proceeds continuing to support St Michael’s Hospice and its work across the local community.
