The sixth annual Dabbers Bingo Comedy Caller Contest is underway! One of the biggest events in the UK Bingo calendar has kicked off, and two contestants are already through to the final.
The first semi-final of the Dabbers Bingo Comedy Caller Contest was a roaring success on 3 July, with Rachel Baker, performing as Gwen, and Paul Aitchison, performing as Paul Klaus Fantastiche, securing their places in this year’s Grand Final.
The pair impressed judges and audiences during the opening heat at Dabbers Social Bingo in Houndsditch, earning the first two spots in the eagerly anticipated final in Houndsditch on 17 July.
Gwen and Klaus Fantastiche Progress
Announcing the results, Dabbers described Baker’s performance by saying:
“Rachel Baker, aka Gwen, has had audiences in stitches with her brilliantly observed character comedy. Think Julie Walters energy colliding with the gloriously chaotic world of Love of Huns—serving up a hilariously familiar, gloriously opinionated, classic Karen you just can’t stop watching.”
On Paul Klaus Fantastiche’s performance, organisers of the popular bingo event said:
“Paul Klaus Fantastiche has absolutely blown everyone away with his jaw-dropping magic, razor-sharp wit and gloriously over-the-top stage presence. Equal parts magician, showman and beautiful menace, he’s impossible to ignore.”
One Semi-Final Still to Come
The second semi-final takes place on 10 July in Houndsditch, with four more acts competing for the remaining places in the Grand Final.
The performers still to take to the stage are:
- Nerine Skinner as Sadie The Motivator
- Ben Pollard
- Tara Boland as Dusty Creases
- CJ Cabaret
All three events are hosted by musical comedian Katie Pritchard.
Sixth Year for the Competition
Now in its sixth year, the Dabbers Bingo Comedy Caller Contest showcases performers who can combine comedy with the role of a bingo caller, entertaining audiences as they host live bingo games.
The 2025 Dabbers Bingo Comedy Caller of the Year contest was a huge success, and this year’s promises to be even bigger and better.
This year’s winner will receive a £1,500 cash prize, an increase on previous years. The 2026 competition is also the first to be sponsored by the Gambling.com Group-owned WhichBingo, enabling audience members to attend free of charge and receive a complimentary cocktail.
With Rachel Baker and Paul Klaus Fantastiche already through, attention now turns to the second semi-final to determine who will complete this year’s Grand Final line-up.
Tickets are free and available on the Dabbers Bingo website.
