Arizona bettors placed approximately $599.5 million in sports and event wagers during July 2026, according to newly released state figures. The total represented a substantial increase from the same month last year, even as monthly wagering activity continued to decline from the higher levels recorded earlier in 2026.
The Arizona Department of Gaming reported that the July total increased by approximately 29.3% compared with July 2025. The agency also collected about $4.9 million in event wagering privilege fees during the month.
“This figure represents an approximate 29.3% increase year-over-year when compared to July 2025,” read a portion of the statement.
July’s results added to the revenue generated during the opening portion of fiscal year 2027. Regulated event wagering and fantasy sports have produced approximately $8.1 million in privilege fees for the state so far in the fiscal year. Event wagering accounted for roughly $7.9 million of that amount, while fantasy sports generated $160,918.
“For fiscal year 2027 year-to-date, regulated event wagering and fantasy sports have generated approximately $8.1 million in privilege fees to the state – approximately $7.9 million from event wagering and $160,918 from fantasy sports,” read a portion of the statement.
July Handle Falls Below Earlier 2026 Levels
Despite the year-over-year increase, July recorded the lowest monthly wagering amount reported in Arizona since the beginning of 2026.
January opened the year with approximately $881.1 million in wagers before the handle dropped to $760.4 million in February. Betting activity rose again in March, reaching approximately $836.9 million.
The monthly total then moved lower over the following several reporting periods. Arizona recorded $737.2 million in wagers during April, followed by $676.6 million in May and $663.9 million in June. July’s $599.5 million figure continued that decline.
The comparison shows a difference of more than $280 million between January and July. March also remained well above the July total, with approximately $237.4 million more wagered during that month.
The state regulator publishes monthly reports covering event wagering and fantasy sports using figures supplied by licensed operators. The department notes that operators self-report these numbers, meaning the reported totals remain subject to adjustments following audits and regulatory review.
Arizona Betting Since the 2021 Launch
Legal sports betting began in Arizona in 2021. Since then, bettors have wagered approximately $36.6 billion on sports and events, according to the latest state figures.
Those wagers have generated approximately $198.9 million in event wagering privilege fees for Arizona.
State law allows Arizona to issue as many as 20 event wagering licenses, with 10 licenses reserved for state tribes. The Arizona Department of Gaming currently lists 15 event wagering licensees. Two listed operators have ceased doing business in the state, while another licensee has yet to launch operations in Arizona.
The department regulates event wagering and fantasy sports alongside other gaming activities in the state. Its responsibilities also cover tribal gaming, racing and pari-mutuel or simulcast wagering, and unarmed combat sports.
State Regulator Highlights Responsible Play
Alongside the July financial figures, the department again directed Arizona residents toward responsible gaming information and licensed operators.
Its Responsible Play for a Stronger Arizona campaign provides information about gambling risks and encourages consumers to verify operators before taking part in wagering or fantasy sports. The department’s Check Your Bet initiative allows residents to confirm whether a platform appears on the state’s approved operator list.
Arizona also operates a Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program for people who choose to stop gambling. The Division of Problem Gambling supports education, prevention programs and treatment services for individuals and families affected by gambling-related problems.
Residents can contact the state’s confidential problem gambling helpline at 1-800-NEXT-STEP, or 1-800-639-8783. The state also provides text and online chat options. Assistance remains available around the clock and connects users with providers offering treatment and financial counseling services.
The July report therefore placed Arizona’s monthly wagering volume below every previous month of 2026 while showing considerable growth from July 2025. The latest figures also pushed cumulative wagering since the state’s 2021 launch to approximately $36.6 billion.
