Louisiana’s gaming industry saw strong growth in July 2025, with total casino revenue climbing to $198.6 million—marking a 9.8% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Louisiana State Police. The Lake Charles district led the way, while digital sports betting continued to gain momentum across the state.

Lake Charles Tops Casino Revenue Rankings

The Lake Charles market outperformed all others in the state, pulling in $72.5 million in total revenue. The Golden Nugget Lake Charles was the biggest single contributor, generating $27.0 million—a 7.1% year-over-year increase. L’Auberge Du Lac followed closely at $24.4 million, also up 7.1%, while Delta Downs contributed $14 million, showing a 9.6% rise.

In contrast, a separate report from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board showed slightly different figures for the Lake Charles region, citing $69.0 million in total revenue—a decline of 8% compared to July 2024. That breakdown listed Golden Nugget at $25.2 million, L’Auberge at $23.2 million, Delta Downs at $12.8 million, and Horseshoe Lake Charles at $7.8 million.

Shreveport/Bossier City Sees Mixed Results

Shreveport and Bossier City casinos reported significant year-over-year growth, reaching $48.9 million in July—an increase of 17.6% from 2024. Horseshoe Bossier City posted the most notable gain, jumping 57.7% to $13.6 million. However, not all venues saw positive trends. Margaritaville Resort Casino reported $11 million in revenue, a 23.4% decline. New entrant Live! Casino Hotel Louisiana, which wasn’t operational last July, contributed $9.4 million.

A contrasting source pegged Shreveport/Bossier’s July 2025 revenue at $41.6 million, down 19% year-over-year. In that report, Margaritaville led with $14.3 million, while Horseshoe and Bally’s Shreveport each brought in $8.6 million and $8.3 million, respectively.

New Orleans and Baton Rouge Maintain Growth

In the New Orleans district, casino revenue increased by 9.8% to $48.6 million. Caesars New Orleans saw a 20.4% boost, generating $21.3 million. Treasure Chest earned $13.2 million, up 6.1%, while Boomtown Casino & Hotel saw a slight dip to $8.2 million.

Meanwhile, Baton Rouge properties brought in $22.1 million, marking an 11.7% rise over July 2024. L’Auberge Casino Hotel was the top performer at $13.3 million, up 7.4%. The Queen of Baton Rouge posted $8.1 million, a 15.6% increase, while Belle of Baton Rouge saw a 64.9% surge to $0.8 million.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board’s data reported a smaller increase for Baton Rouge, placing revenue at $23.6 million, up 3% year-over-year.

Online Sports Betting Booms

Despite some inconsistencies in land-based casino reporting, one area saw unified growth – online sports betting. Total revenue in July hit $23.5 million, a 43% jump from the previous year. The handle also surged 41% year-over-year, reaching $172.0 million.

This strong digital performance continues to reflect shifting consumer behavior toward mobile-first, high-engagement betting formats.
