The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has taken decisive action to curb illegal online gambling by issuing cease-and-desist notices to six digital platforms found operating in violation of state law. The affected operators—Bonus Blitz Casino, DomGame, Royal Ace Casino, Slots Capital, Supernova Casino, and Wins Mania—were discovered offering gambling services to Michigan users without obtaining the required state licenses.
State Intensifies Crackdown on Unauthorized iGaming Platforms
According to the MGCB, these operators breached multiple laws, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and relevant provisions of the Michigan Penal Code.
“These illegal operators often masquerade as legitimate gaming platforms, but they exist entirely outside the legal safeguards that protect consumers,” said Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB. “When Michiganders play on unlicensed sites, they’re placing their personal and financial security at risk—with little to no recourse if things go wrong.”
Why Unlicensed Sites Pose a Serious Risk
Unlike Michigan-authorized operators, which undergo extensive vetting and must comply with rigorous state oversight, the six cited platforms function without legal approval. Some are based overseas, outside the reach of U.S. regulatory bodies, while others may appear domestically situated but still fail to meet state licensing criteria.
Without regulation, these platforms do not adhere to standards for data protection, fair gaming practices, or customer dispute resolution. They also lack responsible gambling features such as betting limits or self-exclusion tools, which are mandated for licensed Michigan operators.
“This action sends a clear message to illegal operators: Michigan is not a place for rogue gambling,” Williams added. “We are committed to preserving a safe, legal, and accountable gaming landscape—and that includes rooting out bad actors who threaten the trust we’ve built with consumers.”
Ongoing Enforcement to Protect Players
The cease-and-desist orders require the six platforms to stop offering their services to Michigan residents immediately or face escalating legal consequences. This move is part of a broader campaign by the MGCB to reinforce the integrity of its regulated iGaming sector. Just weeks prior, the agency took similar enforcement steps against 14 offshore operators.
The Board urges residents to use only approved websites listed on the MGCB’s official platform. It also encourages consumers to report illegal gaming activity by calling 1-888-314-2682 or emailing [email protected].
