Rush Street Interactive (RSI), the operator behind the BetRivers brand, has expanded its proprietary BetRivers Poker platform into three additional states—Michigan, Delaware, and West Virginia—creating a shared player pool that now spans four states. This move builds on the platform’s initial launch in Pennsylvania in late 2023 and marks a major step in reshaping the legal online poker landscape in the U.S.
By connecting players across these jurisdictions, BetRivers Poker becomes the only active legal online poker platform in Delaware and West Virginia. This expansion enables larger prize pools, more varied tournaments, and increased player activity across the board. “The launch of a unified cross-state player pool significantly enhances the BetRivers Poker experience,” said Richard Schwartz, CEO of RSI. “By expanding the network, we’ll bring more players to our tables, offer a wider variety of games, and raise the stakes with larger tournament prize pools.”
A Player-Centered Approach Guided by Poker Pros
The platform’s development was steered by poker professionals, most notably Phil Galfond, who sold his Run It Once platform to RSI in 2022. Galfond played a key role in designing BetRivers Poker’s user experience, game formats, and reward systems. “As poker players, we built this platform for the players – all of them,” Galfond stated. “From brand-new poker players to seasoned pros, we focused on fairness, fun, unique features, and meaningful player rewards.”
Poker legend Phil Hellmuth, winner of 17 World Series of Poker bracelets, recently joined as a brand ambassador. His presence aims to further energize the brand’s appeal through live appearances, content creation, and community outreach. “I’ve won more bracelets than anyone in history because I know how poker players think and BetRivers delivers what they want: real competition, big moments, and a championship experience,” said Hellmuth.
Expanding Formats and Digital Footprint
BetRivers Poker provides a range of formats including cash games, Sit & Go tournaments, and Multi-Table Tournaments (MTTs). Among its standout features is the Cub3d Sit & Go format, where players can win up to 1,500 times their buy-in. The platform also boasts interactive avatar reactions and a design built from player feedback, emphasizing engagement and accessibility.
Beyond gameplay, BetRivers Poker has grown its presence through digital content, including the long-running Poker Night in America and the newer PokerBratTV on YouTube. These channels provide fans with behind-the-scenes access, player interviews, live-streamed games, and the opportunity to engage with icons like Hellmuth and Galfond.
Looking Ahead: Aiming for Five-State Coverage
The platform’s next planned move is into New Jersey, which would elevate BetRivers Poker to the distinction of being the first operator to run a five-state legal online poker network. Currently, only one other brand—WSOP, owned by Caesars—operates a multi-state network, connecting players in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Nevada.
With this expansion, BetRivers Poker not only strengthens its market presence but also signals its ambition to become a dominant force in regulated U.S. online poker.
