New York Sportsbooks Reach $214.4M in July Revenue

By | August 12, 2026

New York’s eight online sportsbooks recorded $214.4 million in gross gaming revenue during July after accepting $1.88 billion in wagers, according to figures from the New York Gaming Commission. The result produced an 11.4% hold and marked a sharp recovery from June.

Operators had accepted a record $2.25 billion in bets during June, but retained only 5.19%, generating $116.8 million. July revenue therefore increased 83.5% month over month even though betting volume fell 16.7%.

The market also remained ahead of last year’s summer figures. July’s handle increased 34.3% year over year, while revenue rose 37.8%. Six of the eight operators recorded higher revenue than in June.

World Cup Boosts An Otherwise Quieter Period

The 2026 FIFA World Cup provided additional betting activity during July, when the end of the NFL, NBA and NHL seasons usually leaves Major League Baseball as the main major US sporting attraction.

New York sportsbooks handled $1.88 billion during the month, compared with $1.40 billion in July 2025 and $1.26 billion in July 2024. The July figure also followed a 36.6% year-over-year increase in June, with the two World Cup months producing $4.1 billion in wagers combined.

A stronger hold helped drive July’s revenue result. Three-way moneyline outcomes contributed to sportsbook performance, including Spain’s victory over Argentina in the World Cup final.

Despite the monthly decline in wagering volume, July marked the market’s strongest summer revenue result in the figures provided.

FanDuel Leads Revenue As DraftKings Tops Handle

DraftKings led New York in July handle for a second consecutive year, accepting $661.5 million in wagers. Its 11% hold generated $72.9 million in gross revenue, giving it the second-highest revenue total among the state’s operators.

FanDuel produced the highest revenue figure at $86.1 million, approximately twice its June result. The operator handled $651.2 million and posted a 13.2% hold.

Fanatics Sportsbook reported $21.1 million in revenue after taking more than $221.6 million in bets, representing a 129% increase from June. BetMGM generated $15.6 million from $138.3 million in wagers and recorded an 11.3% hold.

The remaining operators were Caesars, BetRivers, theScore Bet and Bally Bet, with individual results varying across revenue and hold.

New York’s 51% tax rate on mobile sports wagering revenue also produced a substantial return for the state. July activity generated approximately $109.3 million in tax collections, up from $59.6 million in June. Year-to-date mobile sports betting tax revenue has now exceeded $725 million.

The July figures show how sharply revenue can change when sportsbook hold moves alongside major sporting events. While operators accepted fewer wagers than in June, the stronger win rate produced a substantially higher monthly revenue total.
