For the first time, Pennsylvania’s gaming industry has crossed the $600 million threshold in monthly revenue. According to figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), May 2025 generated $601.8 million from all regulated gaming activities, including fantasy contests—marking a 15.52% year-over-year increase.
Major Operators Drive Surge in Monthly Earnings
Two key players were instrumental in achieving this record-setting performance. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the pack with $107.1 million in total revenue, up 31.18% from May 2024. Valley Forge Casino Resort was close behind with $105.8 million, reflecting a 32.95% year-over-year gain. Other top contributors included Parx Casino with $59.1 million (a 4.4% increase) and Rivers Casino Philadelphia, which posted $58.3 million, up 14.48% from the previous year.
Slot machine play across the state contributed $224.9 million to the total, showing a 5.02% boost over May 2024. Parx Casino remained the slot leader, pulling in $34.5 million, followed by Wind Creek Bethlehem with $25.5 million and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh at $23.5 million.
Online Gaming Sees Major Growth
The strongest growth came from the iGaming sector, which amassed $232.8 million—a 33.76% jump over May of last year. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course again led the online gaming market, bringing in $90.1 million, a 38.39% increase. Valley Forge Casino Resort saw online revenue climb to $64.1 million, up 44.42%, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia earned $36.9 million, an 18.04% gain.
Within the iGaming breakdown, online slots alone generated $177.2 million, while iGaming table games brought in $52.9 million, up 17.83% year-over-year. Revenue from iGaming poker rose 20.92% to $2.75 million.
Sports Betting and Fantasy Sports Performance
Sports wagering revenue reached $59.4 million in May, representing a 34.39% increase over the same month in 2024. The state saw a total handle of $655.3 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort led in sports betting with $28.4 million in revenue, followed by Hollywood Casino at the Meadows at $15.7 million and Hollywood Casino York with $2.8 million.
Fantasy sports contests saw a decline, bringing in $1.1 million—5.35% less than May 2024. DraftKings remained the dominant operator with $800,867 in revenue, though that was down 8.29% year-over-year.
Traditional Table Games and VGTs Show Mixed Results
Revenue from retail table games totaled $79.9 million, a 4.55% drop compared to May 2024. Parx Casino led with $18.3 million, while Wind Creek Bethlehem followed with $18 million, despite an 11% year-over-year dip. Live! Casino Philadelphia saw a notable 30.02% decrease in table games revenue, falling to $7.7 million.
Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) experienced marginal change, generating $3.68 million—just 0.08% less than the previous year. Marquee by Penn accounted for the largest share with $2.5 million in revenue.
