Pennsylvania Sets New Gaming Revenue Record in May

By | June 19, 2026

Pennsylvania’s regulated gaming industry achieved its strongest month on record in May, with revenue from casinos, online gaming, sports betting, video gaming terminals and fantasy contests reaching a new all-time high.

Figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) show combined gaming revenue totaled $625.5 million during May 2026. The result represented a 3.93% increase compared with May 2025 and surpassed the previous monthly record of $623.1 million established in January 2025.

The new benchmark also generated substantial returns for the state, with tax revenue from gaming activity reaching nearly $270 million during the month.

Online Gaming Continues to Drive Growth

Internet gaming remained one of the largest contributors to Pennsylvania’s record-setting performance. The PGCB reported iGaming revenue of $254.8 million for May, an increase of 9.4% from the same period last year.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National led the online sector with $98.9 million in revenue, while Valley Forge Casino Resort generated $69.8 million. Rivers Casino Philadelphia followed with $40.8 million.

Separate industry analysis placed total Pennsylvania online casino revenue at $321.1 million, marking year-over-year growth of 10.1% and a month-over-month increase of 3.3%. Despite the gain, analysts noted that growth rates have moderated throughout 2026 compared with previous years, when annual increases frequently exceeded 20%.

Casino and Sports Betting Results

Traditional casino gaming also contributed to the record month. Slot machine revenue climbed 3.2% year over year to $232 million.

Among individual properties, Parx Casino generated $35.5 million in slot revenue. Wind Creek Bethlehem reported $26 million, while Rivers Casino Pittsburgh produced $24 million.

Overall gaming revenue leaders included Hollywood Casino at Penn National with $115.4 million, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort at $104.5 million. Rivers Casino Philadelphia recorded $60 million in gaming revenue during May.

Sports wagering added another significant contribution. Operators handled $595.5 million in bets and generated $52.6 million in revenue.

Valley Forge Casino Resort recorded the highest sports betting handle at $201.1 million and produced $21.6 million in revenue. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows accepted $189.1 million in wagers and generated $15.1 million in revenue. Hollywood Casino York reported sports betting revenue of $3.1 million from a handle of $44.6 million.

Growth Slows as Market Matures

While Pennsylvania remains the largest online gaming market in the United States, recent data suggests growth has begun to stabilize.

Industry analysts pointed to slower annual growth rates throughout 2026, even as overall revenue remains near record levels. Online slots continued to outperform the broader market, posting year-over-year growth of 13.9%.

Slot games accounted for 83.7% of Pennsylvania’s iGaming revenue during May, reinforcing their dominant position within the online casino sector.

Pennsylvania continues to maintain a lead over competing states in overall online gaming revenue. However, Michigan, which launched online gaming two years later, reported stronger annual growth rates and continues to expand at a faster pace than the Keystone State.
