Play’n GO Gains Entry to Alberta Regulated iGaming Market

By | May 25, 2026

Play’n GO has obtained a supplier licence in Alberta, strengthening its position in Canada’s regulated iGaming landscape and marking another step in its broader North American growth strategy. The approval, issued by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Commission (AGLC), allows the company to distribute its online casino content to licensed operators once the province’s market becomes operational later this year.

The latest licence extends Play’n GO’s presence beyond its established operations in Ontario and Quebec. It also reinforces the supplier’s long-term commitment to regulated markets, where it continues to focus its global expansion efforts.

Alberta Licence Strengthens Regulated Market Strategy

With regulatory approval in place, Play’n GO will be able to supply its portfolio of online casino games to Alberta-based operators when the jurisdiction goes live. The province represents a new commercial opportunity within Canada’s evolving regulated gaming sector.

Chief Commercial Officer Magnus Olsson described the approval as an important milestone for the company’s regional development.

“Being granted a licence in Alberta is another important step in our North American growth journey and further strengthens our presence in Canada.

“Regulated markets are the foundation of our business, and Alberta represents an exciting opportunity to expand our footprint in a jurisdiction that shares our commitment to high standards, player protection and long-term sustainability.”

The company stated that its expansion model is built around cooperation with licensed operators, focusing on compliance, innovation, and sustainable commercial delivery across regulated environments.

Game Portfolio Prepared for Provincial Standards

Ahead of the market launch, Play’n GO has been adapting its technology systems and game catalogue to meet Alberta’s regulatory requirements. Several titles are currently undergoing certification to ensure they comply with local standards before release.

This preparation forms part of a wider onboarding process aimed at ensuring readiness for the province’s expected launch later this year. Once completed, the company will be positioned to roll out its full portfolio of casino titles in the jurisdiction.

The Alberta approval adds another regulated market to Play’n GO’s growing international footprint and aligns with its strategy of operating exclusively within licensed frameworks.

New Title Extends Creative Portfolio

Alongside its regulatory progress, Play’n GO continues to develop new content, including Treats of Terror II, a 5×5 slot set inside a stylised 1980s American arcade. The game builds on the original Treats of Terror release, shifting from a haunted cinema setting to a neon-lit arcade environment filled with exaggerated horror themes.

The narrative centres on a roaming character known as the Gobstopper, which moves through the arcade space consuming prize elements as part of the game’s design. The title blends nostalgic visual cues with stylised horror influences, using bright colours and darker undertones to shape its atmosphere.

Games Ambassador Magnus Wallentin said: “Treats of Terror II is built around a simple idea – comfort-food nostalgia, then the rug pull. The arcade is colourful, funny, and slightly disgusting in the best way, and the Gobstopper makes sure it never feels safe for long.”

Play’n GO said the release reflects its continued focus on thematic storytelling alongside its regulated expansion strategy, balancing creative development with compliance-driven market growth.
