Playtech Adds New Regulated Markets to Global Network

By | July 17, 2026

Playtech has increased its activity in regulated gaming jurisdictions after launching its content offering in Alberta and securing a new vendor listing in the United Arab Emirates through its subsidiary VSTechnology Limited.

The company entered Alberta as the province opened its regulated iGaming market, allowing licensed operators to offer Playtech casino and live gaming content to local players. The move marks another stage in Playtech’s Canadian expansion, following the supplier’s involvement in Ontario’s regulated iGaming launch in 2022.

The Alberta rollout includes several titles from Playtech’s catalogue, including Adventures Beyond Wonderland, Mega Fire Blaze™ Roulette and Oink Oink Oink™. These games have previously gained player engagement in regulated North American markets, according to the company.

Regulatory Framework Supports Alberta Launch

Alberta’s online gaming sector operates under the iGaming Alberta Act and is supported by AGLC’s iGaming Standards. Playtech said the regulatory structure provides the conditions for operators and suppliers to participate as the market develops.

Shimon Akad, Playtech Chief Operating Officer, said: “Entering Alberta’s regulated iGaming market on its first day is a significant milestone for Playtech’s North American expansion strategy. We are pleased to be supporting our partners with some of our strongest-performing content and are committed to working closely with them as the market evolves, broadening our offering and helping them deliver engaging player experiences to support their long-term success.”

The company also pointed to Alberta’s player protection measures, including its centralised self-exclusion system. Charmaine Hogan, Global Head of Government Relations at Playtech, said: “Alberta has set a strong regulatory foundation for its iGaming market, and the establishment of a centralised self-exclusion system is a particularly welcome step in safeguarding players.”

She continued: “Well-designed regulation, underpinned by meaningful player protection tools, is what allows regulated markets to thrive and channel players away from the black market. We will continue to work constructively with the Alberta iGaming Corporation and industry partners as the market matures.”

VSTechnology Gains UAE Regulatory Recognition

Alongside the Alberta announcement, Playtech subsidiary VSTechnology Limited was added to the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority’s public register of licensed gaming-related vendors in the UAE.

The listing brings the number of suppliers on the GCGRA register to 23. The regulator has not disclosed the licence issue date, number or the specific products and services covered.

The GCGRA states that businesses and individuals must hold a valid licence to conduct commercial gaming activities in the UAE or provide related products and services.

VSTechnology Limited is linked to Playtech through the regulator’s register, while Playtech filings identify it as a wholly owned UK subsidiary involved in licensing online gaming software and games. Playtech acquired the company through its 2009 purchase of Gaming Technology Solutions, which owned VS Technology and VS Gaming.

The GCGRA register includes suppliers such as Aristocrat Technologies, Novomatic, Scientific Games, LNW Gaming, Konami Gaming, International Game Technology, Cammegh and Endorphina. It also lists Wynn Al Marjan as the UAE’s only land-based gaming facility licence holder, with The Game LLC operating the UAE Lottery and Coin Technology Projects LLC listed for internet gaming and sports wagering.
