Playtech has unveiled Virtual Host, an artificial intelligence-powered feature designed to add real-time commentary and guidance to its Live casino products.
The technology works within the live studio setting, where it can guide players through individual rounds while providing commentary as games progress. Playtech said the feature aims to extend the live entertainment format while retaining the established live casino experience.
Virtual Host can also be adapted for different markets. Its appearance, language and presentation style can be customised, with English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese currently supported. Playtech said further localisation is planned in the near future.
AI Technology Enters the Live Studio
The new feature forms part of Playtech Live and gives operators another way to present live casino content. Rather than operating separately from the studio environment, Virtual Host integrates with the existing setup and provides a digital host during gameplay.
The system can accompany each round with commentary, creating an additional layer around the core gaming activity. Playtech has positioned the feature as an extension of its live entertainment offering, with the AI host intended to complement the underlying game rather than replace the live studio format.
Market-specific controls also give operators the ability to adjust how the host appears and communicates with players. Current language availability covers three markets, while the company plans to introduce additional localisation.
The introduction comes as Playtech also highlights its involvement in responsible gambling education in the United States through its support for the American Gaming Association’s Responsible Gaming Education Month.
Playtech Supports Responsible Gaming Month
September marks the 28th annual Responsible Gaming Education Month in the US. The campaign focuses attention on responsible gaming education and efforts to improve consumer understanding of gambling safeguards.
Playtech said it supports the initiative organised by the American Gaming Association (AGA), with an emphasis on gaming literacy, consumer education and training. The company also pointed to cooperation with industry partners as part of efforts to improve understanding of responsible gambling.
The figures cited alongside the campaign indicate the scale of gambling participation in the US. AGA Vice President of Research David Forman said almost 60% of Americans gambled in some form last year.
Forman also said the gaming industry has committed about half a billion dollars to responsible gaming programmes. Awareness of available safeguards has increased as well.
The responsible gaming focus provides a separate dimension to Playtech’s latest announcement, which centres on the use of AI in live casino entertainment. Virtual Host gives the company a technology-led addition to its Live offering, while its support for the AGA initiative places attention on consumer education and responsible gambling.
The host’s ability to change its appearance, language and presentation style could also allow the feature to accommodate different market requirements as Playtech adds further localisation.
With English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese already supported, Playtech has established the initial language range for Virtual Host while leaving room for additional versions in future.
