Fast-growing iGaming business Checkd Group has appointed sports marketing expert Will Tyrrell as its new Director of UK Media.
Tyrrell will lead the ambitious Group’s UK strategy as it aims to further boost its domestic presence through innovative partnerships with leading operators and media organisations.
Having founded online sports betting hub Oddschanger, which was acquired by Checkd Group in 2017, Tyrrell has since taken up roles including Head of Content and Head of Commercial at the company’s media arm Checkd Media over the past five years, before becoming Head of Marketing in 2021.
In that latest role he has been responsible for overseeing a series of successful marketing campaigns, including the award-winning partnership with Sky Bet and ITV7 for this year’s Cheltenham Festival.
His promotion to Director of UK Media is the latest in a series of key appointments made by Checkd Group as it aims to build on recent successes. These include Ben Warn being named as Checkd Group’s new Non-Executive Chairman and Paul Lowery’s appointment as Head of Sports earlier this year.
Checkd Group’s notable successes in recent months include the launch of US sports betting tips site FlashPicks, the Checkd Dev department’s delivery of its enhanced Sky Sports Fantasy Football platform ahead of the 2022-23 season, and the renewal for a third season of the Group Chat video campaign, a partnership between Checkd’s social brand Footy Accumulators and Betfair.
