Arizona Lottery Unveils Major Draw Games Technology Update

By | July 13, 2026

The Arizona Lottery has completed a statewide technology upgrade that introduces an expanded portfolio of draw games while replacing core operational systems with new infrastructure supplied by Scientific Games. The project, which took effect this month, represents the largest draw games modernization in the Lottery’s 45-year history.

Scientific Games has deployed its Momentum technology ecosystem, which includes a central gaming system and retailer management platform. Alongside operational improvements, the rollout introduces several updates designed to expand player options across Arizona.

Lottery officials said the technology strengthens security, improves day-to-day operations and supports the introduction of new game features throughout the retail network.

Draw Game Portfolio Receives Broad Expansion

Players will see several changes to the Arizona Lottery’s draw game lineup following the technology rollout. The Pick now includes an automatic multiplier with every play, improved overall winning odds and a new instant-win option called The Pick PLUS.

The Pick 3 game now features an additional midday drawing each day. The Lottery has also launched Pick 4, offering both midday and evening drawings.

Powerball players can now purchase the Powerball Double Play add-on, which provides a second opportunity to win as much as $10 million through a separate drawing held immediately after the main Powerball draw.

Arizona Lottery Executive Director Alec Thomson said the work required extensive preparation before the public launch.

“Our teams have been working hard behind the scenes with the Scientific Games teams, and we are thrilled to see this project come to life. The changes to our draw games will give our players bigger value, more ways to play and even more chances to win,” Thomson said.

“Ultimately, the advanced technology ecosystem modernizes our operations and positions the Arizona Lottery for future growth.”

New Systems Support Retail Network

As part of the project, Scientific Games also upgraded its gem suite software to support the Lottery’s expanded draw game offering. The platform manages retailer licensing, communications and business intelligence for Arizona’s network of approximately 3,600 retail locations.

Scientific Games has supplied products and services to the Arizona Lottery for 45 years, including Scratchers games and licensed brands, while serving as the Lottery’s systems technology partner since 2015. The company also provides support from its Phoenix location.

John Schulz, President, Americas & Global Instant Products at Scientific Games, said the latest deployment builds on that long-standing relationship.

“As the Arizona Lottery’s systems technology partner since 2015, Scientific Games is focused on readying the Lottery for long-term sustainability through advanced systems and software, and exciting new products that engage players and drive proceeds to the good cause programs that benefit Arizonans,” Schulz said.

The Arizona Lottery began operations in 1981 and has generated more than $5.9 billion in net funding for public programs across the state. Lottery proceeds support higher education, economic development, environmental conservation, and health and human services.

Scientific Games supplies lottery products, systems and digital solutions to 150 lotteries across 50 countries and says it is among the first lottery companies to receive World Lottery Association certification as a Responsible Gaming Supplier.
