Boyd Gaming and International Game Technology (IGT) have agreed to a three-year extension of their long-running partnership, securing IGT PlaySports as the technology provider for Boyd’s retail and mobile sportsbook operations across Nevada until August 2028.
This new agreement cements the continuation of a relationship that began in 2018, reinforcing IGT’s role as the foundational tech provider behind Boyd Gaming’s sports betting infrastructure in one of the most established wagering markets in the United States.
Continued Tech Integration Across Boyd’s Nevada Operations
With the renewed deal, IGT’s PlaySports platform will remain the core engine behind Boyd Gaming’s sportsbook offerings, supporting both in-person betting at 10 physical locations and mobile wagering statewide. The partnership also preserves Boyd’s use of IGT’s self-service PlaySports kiosks throughout its Nevada-based venues.
“Boyd Gaming is pleased to announce our decision to continue powering our retail and mobile sportsbooks in Nevada with IGT PlaySports technology,” said Bob Scucci, Vice President of Race & Sports Operations for Boyd Gaming. “As the core technology of our sports betting offering in Nevada, IGT PlaySports’ platform enables us to evolve Boyd Sports in ways that deliver incremental value to our players and seamlessly scale our offering to address new business opportunities.”
IGT’s SVP of Sports Betting, Joe Bertolone, emphasized the strategic importance of the Nevada market and the technological strengths of the PlaySports platform in ensuring competitive performance.
“IGT PlaySports looks forward to continuing our close partnership with Boyd Gaming in Nevada for three additional years and helping them engage players across channels in the most mature, competitive sports betting market in the U.S.,” Bertolone stated. “IGT PlaySports continues to invest in and grow our footprint in Nevada. The performance, reliability and scalability of our technology stack and self-service betting technologies ensure our customers benefit from the most comprehensive B2B solution in North America.”
Expanding National Footprint and Recognition
While the latest agreement focuses on Nevada, the scope of IGT’s sports betting technology within Boyd Gaming’s broader U.S. operations is far-reaching. PlaySports currently powers sportsbook functions at Boyd-owned properties in nine other states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
IGT’s PlaySports platform was recently recognized as “Sportsbook Platform Provider of the Year” at the 2024 EGR North America Awards, underscoring its reputation as a top-tier B2B betting solution in a rapidly expanding industry.
Strategic Growth Amid Industry Momentum
The partnership renewal comes on the heels of Boyd Gaming’s broader business moves, including the implementation of Agilysys InfoGenesis POS systems across 28 of its properties and a first-quarter revenue report of $991.6 million—a 3.2% increase year-over-year.
Meanwhile, IGT has continued to expand its international presence, securing both the Italian Lottery license and GCGRA licensing in the UAE this May. Additionally, it recently extended a similar Nevada-focused partnership with Golden Nugget, highlighting the company’s sustained momentum in regulated markets.
