New Jersey’s gaming industry posted a robust performance in May 2025, generating $614.7 million in total revenue—its highest monthly figure so far this year. According to the latest data released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), the figure represents a 20.5% increase over May 2024, reflecting strong momentum across all key sectors: casinos, internet gaming, and sports wagering.
Casino Performance Sees Solid Growth
Revenue from land-based casino operations reached $265.3 million in May, marking a 10.9% year-on-year gain from the $239.1 million reported in May 2024. Slot machines contributed $194.8 million to that total—up 7.5%—while table games brought in $70.5 million, a notable 21.9% rise.
Among individual operators, Borgata Atlantic City maintained its leadership position with $51.1 million in casino revenue, reflecting a 14.3% increase. Hard Rock reported $36.5 million (up 10.8%), followed by Ocean Casino with $30.2 million (an 8.4% rise).
Year-to-date casino win reached $1.12 billion through May, slightly ahead of the same period last year with a 0.8% uptick.
iGaming and Sports Betting Continue Upward Trajectory
Internet gaming delivered one of the most significant boosts to the state’s overall revenue. The sector recorded $246.8 million in May—up 28.5% from $192.1 million in May 2024. Year-to-date iGaming revenue hit $1.16 billion, an increase of 22.5% compared to the first five months of 2024.
FanDuel led the pack in online gaming with $54.4 million, showing a 36.1% rise. DraftKings followed at $48.1 million (+13.8%), while BetMGM posted $32.5 million (+42.7%), and Borgata earned $20.8 million (+15.1%).
Meanwhile, sports wagering gross revenue also saw impressive gains. The segment brought in $102.5 million for May 2025, up 30.2% from $78.8 million the previous May. Despite the monthly jump, year-to-date sports betting revenue reached $460.2 million—down 10.3% from $513 million in the same period last year.
FanDuel again topped the charts in sports betting with $44.3 million in revenue (a 20.8% increase), while DraftKings came in at $28.3 million (up 28.1%). BetFanatics, though smaller in volume, registered significant growth, surging 206.8% to reach $6.2 million. In total, over $1 billion was wagered during the month, with $967.1 million of that placed online.
Recovery from April’s Modest Gains
May’s strong results contrast with April 2025, when the state recorded a total gaming revenue of $536.6 million—a 5% increase year-on-year. While iGaming had shown a 25.2% boost that month, both casino and sports betting segments experienced downturns. The widespread improvements in May suggest a revitalization in the market, with all major verticals contributing to the surge.
The state also collected $66.8 million in gross revenue taxes in May and has accrued $301.7 million in taxes year-to-date through May 2025.
