888 Casino, one of the world’s leading operators, has been granted a temporary license issued by the Virginia Lottery to launch its Sports Illustrated-branded product in the US state of Virginia.
With this license, 888 heads into the US market, launching its sportsbook products in this country. In addition to the license, a partnership with the monthly magazine Sports Illustrated will allow the operator to reach this goal.
The partnership, which was announced in this past June, refers to an agreement with Authentic Brands Group (ABG), which is the owner of Sports Illustrated. The partnership was supposed to expand the magazine’s brand to betting and gaming as well.
A Milestone
888’s senior vice president and head of the US, Yaniv Sherman, said: “This is an important milestone for 888 which enhances our foothold in the US online sports betting and iGaming market. There is a growing sports betting fanbase in the state and I firmly believe SI Sportsbook, supported by our partners at Sports Illustrated, will offer a unique and differentiated experience to our customers which will be well-received.”
It has been announced that the well-known operator, 888, will also merge with Virtual Entertainment Partners (VEP). VEP is a company owned by women and minorities (SWaM) and is 100% owned by female African Americans.
888 pointed out that during this partnership, the main focus will be on minority communities and that company will do its best to contribute to communities throughout Virginia.

888 has so far guaranteed nine licenses for market access, and the operator has been approved in Colorado, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
In addition to 888 Casino, Virginia also has several operators, including DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, BetRivers, FanDuel, and Unibet.
888 was founded back in 1997 and since then it can boast of many successes. One of them is the fact that this is the first online operator licensed in the United States. It was founded by brothers Aaron and Avi Shaked, and the company’s headquarters are in Gibraltar, and its first name was Casino-on-Net.
